Hello families! I am a teacher of English as a New Language at a middle school here in Brooklyn, supporting students grades 5-8 with their English language acquisition. I come with an extensive background, and am excited to find roles with potential for a long-term partnership! The cornerstones of my style would be fun, structure, and close collaboration with the family. What this looks like is unique to each family and each role, and I come with lots of questions. It's important to me to establish a foundation of communication early on and to align my approach with the family's values. In the past, this has meant getting outside, art or cooking projects, indoor play with games and manipulatives, and reading, all organized around meal and rest/nap times. I have a mellow personality (more of a listener) but am also physically active and all-in for a game of tag or a day of swimming! Being an educator, I enjoy a good field trip and am happy to take children on outings. I am safety-conscious and attentive at all times, and I like to minimize screens including my own. What I love most about childcare is the bond developed with the child and the memories I've made, even with short-term roles. I hold a Bachelors in Political Science and a TESOL certification.
