Hi families! My name is Amelie and I am originally from Boston, now living in NYC as a freshman at the Fashion Institute of Technology. For five years I worked as a sewing instructor at a sewing studio, teaching children from ages 4-15. I adore getting to know each kid and the variety of personalities that come with it. Teaching sewing has allowed me to help children develop confidence, focus, and self-expression through hands-on, engaging projects. I love guiding young learners through the process of turning ideas into something they can be proud of and seeing how they blossom creativity. Alongside that, I’ve spent several years providing babysitting and part-time care for children of various ages and needs. This has taught me how to adapt quickly, communicate clearly with both children and parents, and create a safe, supportive environment. I am a scholar enrolled in Borough of Manhattan Community College. I lost my Home Health Aide job due to an unforeseen car accident that left me walking with a cane. Disability has cut me off but I feel that when one door closes another opens for better. I have worked as an after school counselor, a volunteer at many child events, have five well taken care of healthy animals in the home, and have been taking care of kids for longer than I can imagine.
