In high school, I was a camp counselor for my school’s outdoor program and a swim instructor for children aged 3-8. Through AmeriCorps, I was given the chance to volunteer weekly at a boys and girls clubs and that was my favorite volunteer opportunity by far. I helped the kids move through their activities, identify various emotions, set boundaries with peers by saying “stop!” or “i do not like that!”, and focusing on creating a safe space for them to feel heard, understood, and regulated. In addition to childcare, I am experienced in caring for dogs, cats, chickens, beta fish, bunnies, and geckos (my family had a lot of pets!).
