Hi! My name is Dani and I am a nanny and visual artist in Brooklyn, NY with 8 years of experience working with families. I originally grew up in northeastern Massachusetts raised by my Ecuadorian father and Portuguese mother. Because of this, I am fluent in Spanish as a second language and can get by fairly well with Portuguese, though i'm practicing to improve that skill. My experience in childcare ranges from the newborn stage up to twelve years old with a majority of my time being with infants and toddlers. I really enjoy the outdoors, recreational activities and working on art projects like painting, mixed media collage and crochet all in which I blend into my work as a nanny. My interest in plant and earth science has grown to be a useful part of conversation with young children, giving them an opportunity to be more curious and conscious to the world we are a part of which is a major part of my core values that I like to share along with care, compassion, safety and learning. While caring for children, I have been happy to lead, manage and assist parents with various tasks such as meal preparation, home organizing, activity planning, laundry and light cleaning.

I grew up with a paintbrush in one hand and a bug jar in the other, and that's pretty much still true. As a recent Sarah Lawrence graduate steeped in art and culture, I'd love to share that curiosity with kids — turning a rainy afternoon into an art studio on the kitchen table, or a walk to the corner store into a scavenger hunt through history and nature. I believe kids learn best outside, hands dirty, following whatever's caught their attention — a beetle on the sidewalk, a cloud shaped like a dragon, the story behind a statue in the park. I've babysat for family and friends for years, bringing genuine curiosity rather than a checklist of activities. I'm CPR and First Aid certified, so safety's never an afterthought, but I leave room for spontaneity — fort-building, bedtime, and everything between. I show up present and invested, because the best part of this work is watching a kid's face when they've made or discovered something new.

I believe childhood should be filled with laughter, learning and love. I consider myself patient, loving and reliable. For the past two years, I have been a full-time nanny to a wonderful little one, starting when he was 6 months, which it’s been a wonderful experience, that taught me so much about infant care. I’m a certified preschool teacher in my home country, which has given me knowledge and strong skills in early childhood development. As a plus, Spanish is my first language and I truly enjoy introducing children to it through songs, books and playful activities. I’m CPR-certified caregiver.

I love working with kids and being outdoors. I am vaccinated and boosted. I have a little experience in tutoring and am a recent college graduate. I would be able to help out with homework as necessary. I am almost fluent in Spanish. I feel very confident in working with children with special needs. I have experience being an aquatic therapist and teaching kids with various disabilities how to swim. Additionally, I was a social coach in high school and worked with students with special needs in helping them with homework, teaching them social skills, and job skills. I have been a lifeguard for 5 years and have my CPR certification. I have taught swim lessons to all age groups as young as 2 and as old as 18. I have taken a babysitting course at the Seattle Childrens when I was younger and have babysat quite a bit over the years. I also was part of a program in college to volunteer with homeless children at an after school program. This included serving them dinner, helping with homework and some fun activities. I have always loved dogs and have been around them my whole life. I feel very confident working with dogs of any size/breed. I volunteered at a dog shelter for many years and have had experience with timid and active dogs. As for cleaning, I have always helped around the house with chores and am willing to clean anything given the proper supplies.
