Hello I’m Zoie!! I really started working with kids when I was 14 years old. In my hometown, Clovis, CA, I was tutoring a couple kids, around age 10, with math and reading. When I was 16 I started a consistent nanny position with an 8 month old and a two year old. I would get there at 7am and get them up, dressed, and ready for the day. Throughout the day I was responsible for all meals and naps. When the kids were sleeping I’d do dishes for the family or tidy up common spaces. There was also a 5 year old that would join us when he didn’t have other activities scheduled. At this time I was also doing occasional babysitting jobs with kids from ages 3-9. I’ve enjoyed taking kids to the park for a change of scenery, or finding new ways to explore at home. I have always been theatrical which tends to be received well with kids and is a lot of fun for us both! I enjoy coloring and reading and all kinds of pretend play. I love having the kids involved with meal prep whenever possible, even if it’s just watching me and asking questions! One of my strongest qualities is patience, I have no problem answering a “why?” or “what is that?” 100 times a day! Dixie, my first pet, joined our family when I was just a year old, teaching me lessons of love, loyalty, patience, and protection. My deep affection for animals translates into special connections, and I care for them as if they were my own. I've mastered the art of training animals tricks. Recently I have trained my sister's new puppy to take treats gently, sit, and spin on command. Additionally, my cats now respond to the command to stand up. Animals have significantly contributed to my mental well-being, and I value the opportunity Rover provides to get out of the house to go on walks with new animal companions. My name is Nancy. I am the first born daughter of 8 children. I’ve been helping my mom take care of my siblings which have built the foundation of my profession. I’m currently a preschool teacher and have previous experience with being a substitute teacher for about 6 years. Through substituting, I was able to obtain a lot of my professional experience. I’ve been to a vast amount of daycares where I got to see and learn different learning styles in children as well as different approaches to learning and teaching children to achieve their milestones. I’ve been in a classroom where I’ve had to potty train and can say I was able to learn a few techniques. I’ve also been “long-term” in some sites where I was able to grow a bond with some of the children and celebrate their success. I do have a sibling with Asperger’s autism who is 15, so I have some experience with children on the spectrum.

I have a history of caring for people throughout my entire life. I started babysitting and doing art projects with my neighbor's children at the age of 13. I was the kid who taught all the other kids to draw, waterski, and help with chores. I was a traveling nanny for five children, moving around with the family during the summers for their vacations and working at home with them for one full year. I cooked for them, took them to events, and entertained them; I drove them all over for sightseeing outings and managed all their needs. It was a big job and I was only 18. I went on to house-sit and provide child care for many friends and neighbors over the years. I also house-sit and pet-sit for many clients. I then moved to Paris, France, for a year to further my studies. After graduating with my BFA, I pursued a career as an art center director, curator, and exhibitions coordinator. I raised two sons, one from birth and the second I adopted when he was 15. I was the carpool parent, the extra special event parent, the yummy snack parent, and the art and museum experience parent. I also directed an art center for 11 years, during which I created an after-school arts and academic education program serving elementary through high school at-risk youth. I went on to direct non-profit museum spaces, work as a college professor with community college students, and freelance as an exhibition coordinator and curator for a U.S. exhibition touring, serving a world-renowned artist. I continued to help elderly friends in need, care for children, and house- and pet-sit. I am the friend most people call on for choices, errands, childcare, help when someone is sick, rides, fun, adventure, hikes, house repairs, or care, and help in general. I enjoy helping people, and I am very good at it. I am 57 years young and have spent my life caring for people, as my career and life have blossomed.
