Hi! My name is Gia and I am an animal science major at UC Davis. I grew up in the Bay Area and throughout my life the things that brought me the most joy have been little kids and animals. I am offering my services for childcare and pet care. I started babysitting in middle school and have babysat on a regular basis for numerous families with kids of all different ages and pets of all different types. I am also a seasoned pet sitter and house-sitter. With these jobs my responsibilities have included playing with the kids, making basic meals, helping with homework and tutoring, driving kids, bathing and putting to sleep, running errands, cleaning, laundry, changing diapers, etc. Additionally, I am a camp counselor at a kids horseback riding and crafts summer camp which has given me lots of experience caring for many kids at once and in an environment with lots of potential hazards.
I worked as a Taekwondo Instructor from freshman to senior year of high school. As an Instructor, I began assisting classes around age 10 to which by age 15 I was permitted to teach my own classes and create unique lesson plans for the day. My job was to tailor an engaging curriculum each day for students with a range of learning styles, disabilities, strengths and weaknesses. I often experiment and designed new drills to accommodate my vast audience ranging from as old as three to as young as seventy-eight. I also volunteered and coordinated the Taekwondo summer camp program where parents were able to drop off their kids and we would have a whole day planned filled with fun activities, snacks, nap time, and arts and crafts. I also recently completed an internship through the UC Davis PEDS Infusion Center. During my spring and summer quarter shifts, I would provide one-on-one bedside support through age-appropriate play and therapeutic art activities to help pediatric patients process treatment related anxiety. I would also relieve some of the parents so they were able to take a quick break while I watched and engaged with their child as they were getting their treatment done. Some examples were holding and soothing their baby, playing cards or board games, or participating in coloring and art therapy. I was also responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing toys, to maintain infection prevention standards for immunocompromised patients.
I have some variety in the early childhood development locations that I have had the privilege to work in. La Petite academy and Sunshine playschool are more play based and child led, while Guidepost is a Montessori school. At La petite, we had more guidance in terms of the activities that the students were taking part in, and it was so fun to plan out. At sunshine playschool, we spent the days outside. Kaitlin and Meghan feel very strongly about a child-led program, so we were always paying attention to each child and what they were interested in learning about. We tailored the curriculum specifically to them, as well as taking their developmental processes and learning outcomes in mind. Guidepost is my first Montessori school, and I have definitely learned a lot. I really appreciate the self-sufficiency skills that the philosophy holds, and allowing the children to explore learning at their own pace. I also have experience in babysitting: Managed schedules to ensure that children stayed consistent with routines (including meals, various activities, bedtime, etc) Provided care for children ranging from ages 2-10 Quickly addressed and resolved any issues that arose Engaged children in activities to promote literacy skills, as well as other forms of development Communicated effectively with parents to provide updates and address concerns
Hi! My name is Lexie. I'm currently a Junior at UC Davis. I am offering child care within any ages. I've taken care one year olds and toddlers the last year. I enjoy doing outside activities and indoor such as painting and reading. I do not mind any pets whatsoever, I do offer pet care as well. I've worked with small and big dogs before, specifically English bulldogs!
Hi! My name is Yasmin, I am 20 years old and am currently in my 3rd year at UC Davis as a Political Science and Sociology double major. I love going out on walks, going to the gym and am very involved on campus through clubs and different organizations. I am also fluent in English and Spanish. For the past 3 consecutive summers I have worked at a private school in Oakland, CA. I typically interacted with kids from TK- 6th grade, however I specifically worked in the Art camp with children from TK- 3rd grade. Through my past experience, I have understood the complexity of working with children and understand how to attend to each child's needs. I am happy to call with parents/guardians beforehand, if that helps make the process more comfortable!

"Caitlin was awesome and jumped right in to chaperone four girls (10, 9, 8 and 6) at a family wedding (they were bridesmaids) and she was very helpful with the event as well as taking them home and putting them to bed."

"McKenna was great with our 3 year old son! She came prepared with a box of fun activities and handled playing, dinner, and bedtime seamlessly... and it was all at our hotel while we were in town for a wedding. Thank you McKenna!"
