I am a mental health therapist (LCSW) looking for part time/date night/weekends jobs to supplement my income and connect me back to the joyous work of supporting youth. I am adventurous, empathetic, responsible, and proactive. I am 30 years old and have been working with kids and pets since I was probably about 14. I have worked as an after-school nanny, completing school pickups and activities, as well as a babysitter fo a variety of ages. I worked as a mother’s-helper for a mother who had twins, supporting her with household cleaning and meals, as well as taking care of her 3 year old daughter. Previously, I worked as a behavior therapist for kids with autism and as a paraprofessional in an elementary school for kids with behavioral and developmental disabilities. Last, my most fun position was as an adventure camp counselor leading kids on various outdoor activities and camping trips. I have a lot of experience! In my free time (and if I can overlap it with work) I love to spend my time outdoors snowboarding, hiking, camping, biking, hanging in the park or walking my dog. I'm very active and love to stay busy and aim to encourage play, adventure and calm in the kiddos I work with. I also have lots of experience caring for dogs (and cats a little). Currently, I have a 7.5 year old german shephard/husky mutt and have dog-sat for many people. Last, I have a reliable car that I don't mind driving kids in to and from activities. I started babysitting when I was 12 and have continued to throughout my life. I’m a 50 year old mother of two boys, 22 and 20 and we had a dog and multiple cats along the way. I worked at gym daycares when the kids were little as well as traded babysitting with friends with kids. I myself was raised with a younger sister and many animals including a pony, dogs, cats, fish, birds, a bunny, turtles and rats. I spent my summers at our families ranch in Northern California which has horses, cows, dogs, cats, peacocks, turkeys and pheasants. Hello! I have plenty experience with infants, toddlers, young children and pets. I have months of experience working with an infant who required oral meds for reflux and thrush. This caused her to rarely sleep (reflux woke her up) and was up every 30 min most nights. I am no stranger to holding babies while they nap (if needed and preferred by parents). I love engaging in play, learning games, etc. I believe in gentle but firm corrections. I do NOT believe in yelling or intimidation tactics and will not book with you if that is expected. Children need a safe space to grow and develop properly. As for pets I have years of expierence. I have a German shepherd myself who is trained. I have worked at doggie daycares/boarding facilities. I understand a fair amount of dog body language, how to break up fights (depending on size of both dogs), how to give meds, and can do some light training if needed. I also have expierence with cats, rabbits, ferrets, and rats. I can care for certain farm animals if they are friendly. My knowledge on reptiles/amphibians is very limited outside of frogs and turtles. I have my own house cleaning business and can work that in for a different rate depending on what is needed.
