Find a wedding babysitter in Owings, MD

Hi! I’m Sophie. I am originally from Utah but moved here about 3 months ago. I graduated in Sociology and I am working on a Master’s Degree in school counseling. I am looking for occasional babysitting jobs and would love to find a family to babysit with on a regular basis. I have done Stop The Bleed and CPR training within about the last year and I nannied 3 children under 7 for a summer 3 days a week. I also teach a class of about six 7-8 year students olds once a week and have nieces and nephews I babysit occasionally. I have a flexible schedule in the hours outside of my normal job (a 9-5 M-TH) and I am happy to help with whatever including cleaning, cooking, laundry, prepping lunches, etc. I love doing fun activities like crafts, baking, or being outside. I grew up playing tennis and softball but am enjoying playing pickleball and doing yoga these days.

Mom to 2 amazing kids in elementary school. Three years of experience as an au-pair and nanny before becoming a parent. Experience volunteering in elementary school and preschool as a teacher aide. I love being in nature, playing with kids outdoors, dancing to silly songs, reading, baking, and making art. I practice positive and peaceful parenting, focusing the connection between child and their caregiver. Serving children and families is my passion. As an immigrant and a mother who started raising her children without "the village", I'm deeply in touch with the unmet needs of families with young children in the US. I am passionate about supporting families with what they need to thrive and succeed- childcare, social-emotional supports for parents, and engaging the family with the community. I’m pursuing a graduate certificate in maternal and child health and planning a career change from research in public policy to child therapist.

I'm a dedicated cat-sitter with experience following diligent instructions, taking care of pets with various needs (medical, social, etc) and showering them with love when their families need someone to look after them!

Every summer in high school I was a camp counselor for roughly six weeks, working with ages 4-10. I also frequently babysat during high school, usually ages 7-10. I am currently on my fourth season as a Girls on the Run coach for ages 8-10. I really enjoy spending time kids. I have always had a dog and typically take care of my dog when my parents are away. I am a responsible person and understand the effort required to take care of people (fur people include) and genuinely enjoy doing that!
