Hi there! My name is Gigi. I'm originally from Seattle and currently live in Bushwick/Ridgewood. I am 37 and am a performance maker and CLOWN! I attended the University of San Francisco, where I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Media Studies. I have worked with kiddos as a babysitter, tutor, and dance teacher since 2008 and from 2[removed], I worked as a long term nanny and family assistant. I then stepped away to focus on my artistic pursuits! I was a dancer for a long while and have more recently been pursuing performance art and physical theatre by way of theatre clowning (took a show to Edinburgh Fringe this past August, yay!). I'm learning no other work is as enriching or fulfilling than nurturing and supporting a child's security, creativity, curiosity, and individuality! So much so that I am in process of finding a Master’s program in Early Childhood Education with hopes to teach within the intersection of the performing arts and childhood development. I am committed to supporting and creating a reliable safe haven and secure base for kiddos so they may thrive, play, and learn with confidence. I myself have learned a lot and been inspired by my own inner-child healing and children’s advocacy self-study. In my own personal life, a lot of my time and energy is spent using the arts as a healing modality, as well as working through generational trauma and dysfunctional family patterns and behaviors. I find that this work has taught me to become a more empathetic, nurturing, and patient caregiver and has greatly impacted how I relate to children in particular. I am incredibly careful and intentional with my time spent around kids and hope to provide only the warmest, most supportive, and gently engaging environment. I’ve always loved working with kids and creating environments where they feel comfortable, safe, heard, and able to be themselves. I have experience working with children of many different ages through babysitting and as a camp counselor at a music summer camp, where I worked with campers ages 8–16. I led improv games, arts and crafts activities, music-based activities, and helped create a fun and welcoming environment for all campers.
