Hi there! My name is Gigi. I'm originally from Seattle and currently live in Bushwick/Ridgewood. I am 37 and am a performance maker and CLOWN! I attended the University of San Francisco, where I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Media Studies. I have worked with kiddos as a babysitter, tutor, and dance teacher since 2008 and from 2[removed], I worked as a long term nanny and family assistant. I then stepped away to focus on my artistic pursuits! I was a dancer for a long while and have more recently been pursuing performance art and physical theatre by way of theatre clowning (took a show to Edinburgh Fringe this past August, yay!). But I have missed working with little ones! Play, discovery, and having a healthy relationship with The Flop (failure) is important to my work as a performance artist as well as when working with kiddos. I'm learning no other work is as enriching or fulfilling than nurturing and supporting a child's security, creativity, curiosity, and individuality! So much so that I am in process of finding a Master’s program in Early Childhood Education with hopes to teach within the intersection of the performing arts and childhood development. I am committed to supporting and creating a reliable safe haven and secure base for kiddos so they may thrive, play, and learn with confidence. I myself have learned a lot and been inspired by my own inner-child healing and children’s advocacy self-study. In my own personal life, a lot of my time and energy is spent using the arts as a healing modality, as well as working through generational trauma and dysfunctional family patterns and behaviors. I find that this work has taught me to become a more empathetic, nurturing, and patient caregiver and has greatly impacted how I relate to children in particular. I am incredibly careful and intentional with my time spent around kids and hope to provide only the warmest, most supportive, and gently engaging environment. I began my career as an ABA therapist for children with autism, which led me to roles supporting various school districts by coordinating services and assisting students with special needs.
