About this babysitting job

Ideally we would be provided with an experienced, compassionate in-home care provider to work with my two children, Olivia (7) and Lucas (5.5), who are both autistic. Lucas is currently nonspeaking and sometimes uses an AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) device to support his communication. Both children benefit from caregivers who understand autism, are patient and adaptable, and are comfortable supporting their individual communication, behavioral, sensory, and developmental needs. The care provider should be someone with professional or hands-on experience working with autistic children, particularly through: (i) ABA therapy or other autism-focused support; (ii) special education; (iii) early childhood development; (iv) speech/communication support, including familiarity with AAC; (v) or other relevant behavioral, developmental, or educational experience The most important qualities are patience, compassion, flexibility, and the ability to meet each child where they are while helping them feel safe, understood, and engaged. The care provider should be someone who can provide attentive, supportive care tailored to their individual needs.
