Hi. My name is Pamela and I have been a childcare provider for over 20 years. When I moved to the Bay Area in 1989, I worked at St. Johns Infant -Toddler Center. From there, I moved to working with preschoolers then finally, I got my teaching credential. I have been working with elementary school children in Oakland since 1993. I love spending time with kids. I make up weekend field trips with my students and dream of having my own weekend outing association for kids in the future. I enjoy taking kids to parks, making up crazy songs and stories and basically being creative. I always bring new, fun things for kids to engage with- clay, cool pop-up books, spinning toys... I feel very comfortable with children and it's mutual. I don't believe in plopping kids in front of a screen when I babysit. I engage them in fun activities and make sure they are never bored. I believe in eating healthy and try to support families if they have that same belief. Go out, have fun and know that your children are in competent hands!
Hello! My name is Amanda, and I’m a former nanny with over 7 years of childcare experience caring for newborns, infants, toddlers. I worked as a nanny while attending college in the U.S. Professionally, my background is in marketing and advertising, but caring for children has always been one of my greatest passions in life. Currently, I’m looking for occasional babysitting opportunities to support local families. The majority of my experience has been with newborns and infants, supporting families through the important early stages of development. I have extensive experience establishing feeding routines, supporting healthy sleep habits, engaging in age-appropriate developmental activities, and creating nurturing environments where children feel safe, loved, and secure. Throughout my journey, I have worked with both long-term and short-term families and have experience caring for multiple children at the same time, including siblings with different developmental needs and schedules. I am comfortable balancing feedings, naps, activities, meal preparation, transportation, and daily routines while ensuring each child receives individualized attention. I am CPR and First Aid certified and have experience supporting families with sleep training, Baby-Led Weaning (BLW), potty training, and Montessori-inspired learning. I believe in fostering independence, confidence, and curiosity while maintaining a warm, patient, and loving approach. Outside of childcare, I am an outdoorsy person who loves nature and living an active lifestyle. I currently live on a sailboat in the Bay Area, which has strengthened my appreciation for adventure, exploration, and the natural world. I enjoy incorporating outdoor activities, walks, playground visits, and nature-based learning experiences into children’s daily routines whenever possible. I pride myself on being dependable, patient, communicative, and supportive. My goal is to become a trusted extension of the family while creating a warm environment where children feel safe, loved, and encouraged to thrive. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! I hope we have the opportunity to meet and work together. I’d be honored to care for your little ones and become someone your family can rely on. I look forward to connecting with you!
“Amanda is an absolute natural with children - she has a mother’s instinct and immediately inspired trust in just a few hours of watching her interact with my 5 month old. In the 3 weeks we worked with Amanda while our nanny was on vacation, she was highly reliable, a top notch communicator, and a pleasant positive person to have around our family. Within days she had my baby on a predictable routine that exceeded my expectations. We will definitely be working with Amanda again (and she would be our first choice for child care!)”
Hi! I'm a part-time student with a flexible schedule and a genuine love for working with children. I spent several years as a camp counselor working with special needs children through high school and college, which gave me a deep appreciation for patient, attentive, and individualized care. I have a background in engineering which means I'm reliable, detail oriented, and great at problem solving. I also grew up in a Chinese household with Mandarin as my first language, which I'm happy to incorporate naturally into our time together if that's something your family values. I'm calm, warm, and genuinely enjoy engaging with kids through play, creative activities, reading, and exploring. I believe every child deserves to feel seen and supported. I have a pediatric CPR, AED and first aid certification, and am taking child development courses. I’m happy to provide references :)
Hi! My name is Phia and I would be happy to work with you. I have been working with children professionally since I was 16 but babysat before then. I have worked with children of varying ages, from infants 3 months and older, toddlers, elementary age, all the way up to young teenagers preparing for high school. I graduated from the University of San Francisco with a BA in sociology in May 2022. I now work as a project coordinator supervising youth development and policy at a local non-profit. I still work with babysitting families 1-2 times a week. In the Bay Area, I have worked as an after-school program leader for the YMCA in SFUSD, as well as a classroom aid. Beyond this, I have worked as an interim babysitter and nanny for various families before and during the pandemic. Through my time with the YMCA and other organizations, I have been trained in childhood development and creative education. I enjoy working with kids because it helps me keep in tune with my ability to empathize and stay creative. Children are the expression of a community, so staying in tune with the needs and experiences of youth is better for the community as a whole. Booking and payment policy: Same day cancellation, if you cancel within 4 hours of the booking start time, you are agreeing to pay me 1/2 of lost wages.
“Phia is so great with my kids! She and my toddler especially get along great, and she does an awesome job playing with him. Highly recommend.”
With going on 6 years of experience caring for one family, I developed strong childcare skills, including managing routines, and keeping kids entertained through engaging activities. I have been on UrbanSitter for almost 2 years and have worked with various families as a repeat sitter! I also have experience caring for my younger siblings and cousins in my big family. I moved for to the Bay Area/Berkeley for college, which led me to transition from my previous long-term position. I’m reliable, nurturing, and love helping kids grow! I am able to drive kiddos around in the family’s car and run errands if needed! I don’t own a car in the Bay Area
