Lena 1 review
Brooklyn
$33 per hour for 1 child
Booked by 2 families in Brooklyn, NY

Hi, I’m Lena (lee-nah) While I’m new to the Urban Sitters app, I bring over a decade of professional childcare experience, supporting families with diverse living situations, dietary preferences, age groups and developmental needs. I love building connections with the children and families I work with, taking the time to understand their interests, routines and learning how I can contribute to their growth and well-being. As a dependable and trustworthy caregiver, I’m also deeply committed to fostering healthy development and creating a positive environment for every family I work with. I take pride in offering tailored care for siblings while accommodating the ever-changing needs of busy parents. I’d be happy to answer any questions about my experience or arrange an introductory call/meeting. Thanks for your consideration!

Lena is the absolute BEST. Do not hesitate before booking her. We did a veryyy long search before hiring her, as we are picky neurotic first time parents. Lena is absolutely amazing with our 5-month-old—always actively engaging with her, and our baby loves her. And when she naps, Lena cooks us the best meals!! We are so grateful to have found her.

Nadhira 1 review
Brooklyn
$25 per hour for 1 child

I have over 5 years of experience in preschool, after school settings with children varying from 2 to 17 years old. In home settings, I have provided childcare for more than 30 families with various needs from the ages of 9 months to 10 years old. Responsibilities included gentle wake ups or lengthy bedtime routines, preparing meals, travels to and from school or extra curricular activities, and more! I am also more than happy to assist with household chores and pet care! I have lived with and cared for both cats and dogs.

Nadhira is the kind of person kids naturally light up around. She’s been caring for my son since he was three—he’s eleven now—and his reaction to her has never changed. She’s kind, responsible, and genuinely attentive to what a child needs in the moment. Peace of mind matters to me, and I feel completely at ease when Nadhira is caring for my son.

Sophia Brooklyn
$25 per hour for 1 child

Hello! My name is Sophie and I’m currently living in Brooklyn. I am looking to become a babysitter for some lovely families in NYC. I have over 10 years of combined child work experience, as well as petsitting of all kinds of animals. I was a regular babysitter during middle & high school, with kids ranging from a few months old to 12 years old. My college & post grad experience with children includes substitute teaching, summer camp counseling, and more. I am comfortable with children of all ages and get along with them excellently. I love to take the time to truly get to know the children and take interest in their passions. Additionally, I am comfortable picking children up from/dropping off at events or school, running errands, taking them exploring, cooking dinner, cleaning, and more. I also am able to petsit for all kinds of animals in your household. I would love to watch your children while you work late, go out for date night, or just take a break! I am new to this site, but my child work experience goes back years and I am a very skilled caretaker. Take a chance on me!

Ammar 1 review
New York
$25 per hour for 1 child

I began working with children initially in 2011. I started as an assistant to a Taekwondo sensei (Now known as Johnny Karate on Court Street) when I was a junior black belt. From 2[removed] I worked in Kids Orbit After School Program based in Brooklyn New York, and their summer program Park Slope Day Camp where I worked for 3 summers (2 as a supervisor). Within those 3 years with Kids Orbit/PSDC, I was a Taekwondo Specialist, worked their after school program as a counselor, and worked in public elementary schools as a recess employee. During this timeframe I graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelors degree where I majored in psychology and Children and Youth Studies (3.94 GPA). I began babysitting for 1 family exclusively for 4 years from approximately 2014-2018 in Carroll Gardens. I worked with a 7 year old girl and 4 year old boy until they turned 11 and 8 respectively. In 2018, I had to leave that babysitting opportunity as I began working with the Administration for Children Services as a Child Protective Specialist (CPS) and their hours were demanding. I worked there until 2022. I have not worked with any children since 2022, but am now a State employee and I have over 11 years experience in the field. I am looking to pick up some part time hours, or 1 family I can work with consistently.

I highly recommend Ammar as a caregiver & babysitter for children of any age! Ammar cared for our two children (a boy and a girl) over the course of several years and through various stages of their interests and development (ages 4-10). He was extremely reliable, but more importantly, truly cared for their needs, developing a strong rapport with both of them and took a real interest in whatever they were into (art, music, pop culture, reading, etc). Not only did our kids look forward to seeing Ammar regularly, but as parents, we felt completely comfortable leaving them in his hands, whether for an after-school pick-up until we got home, or an extended night out. Whatever the situation, he was responsible, smart, and communicative, detailing the day’s events. He not only handled the basics (homework, meal-prep, playtime) but was conscientious and always looking for new ways to engage or entertain our kids. We love Ammar and, even to this day, consider him family and a part of our lives.
