Hello! My name is Skylar Kennedy and I have always known that I love working with kids. I am the oldest of 7 children and started looking after the little ones very early on. Then in my teens and early 20s I started coaching Pop Warner cheer, working in children's theatre groups, and babysitting as much as possible. I started being a nanny at 19years old and just kept up the momentum. I now have worked with over 100 kiddos ranging in age from 3weeks to 15 years old. I also have extensive experience with children on the spectrum, kids with verbal or developmental delays, deaf or non verbal, ADHD, and Anxiety disorders. I am currently finishing up my bachelor's degree in child development and have my first aid/CPR certification. My approach with kids is just meeting them where they are and understanding that children learn and communicate through play. There's so much value in making a mess and/or playing outside as much as possible. Everything can be a learning experience without it even feeling like we have taught a child anything because we just had so much fun getting dirty and cleaning up together. For jobs 3 days or less per week and one time bookings, I do have a late cancellation policy. Cancellations with less than 24hrs notice will result in a 1/2 payment. Ex: if my projected pay was 100$ for the day, the late payment would be 50$. For full time families, I require guaranteed hours per week, paid on the books through a payroll service at 30-40$ per hour depending on responsibilities and number of children. I also prefer to negotiate for holiday/sick days (typically 2 weeks vacation and 1 weeks work of sick time but again we can negotiate a bit!) Additionally, I have my CNA certification and have been BLS CPR certified for the past two years. I’m also currently a third year nursing student in college hoping to work in the NICU in the future. I’d love to give my full attention and care for up to 1-2 children. I have my own transportation and wouldn’t mind going to the library, park, or pick up from after school. I love crafts, reading, and board games which I can provide as well. Please reach out for any concerns or questions! For pet services: I’m very comfortable around dogs/cats since I’ve grown up with multiple of different breeds and sizes my whole life. I’m also willing to dog walk if that’s all you need.
