Greetings families :) I was born and raised in the Philippines where I gained experience teaching children basic reading, writing, drawing, and conflict resolution during high school. I have been in the US since July 2011. I graduated from Santa Monica College with high honors in Early Childhood Education in June 2019. I earned my BA in Child Development from CA State University Long Beach with Magna Cum Laude honors in Fall 2021. I've gained practicum experience at the Growing Place Ocean Park and Marine Campus which both hold the same philosophy I believe in - constructivism. Through this lens, children learn best through play - based on their interests and engagement, which encompasses a broad spectrum of academic subject matter including science, math, arts, and problem solving. Play also presents the opportunity for children to develop prosocial behavior and self-regulation among peers, necessary to succeed not just in academia but in life. I am also a firm advocate of respectful, responsive, and reciprocal care wherein children are valued with consistency. They are human beings capable of learning through trial and error - born with a drive to engage in the scientific method to reach their own conclusions about the world around them. As a caregiver, it is not only my responsibility to support their development by extending their interests through scaffolding but also follow their parents’ lead with methods and philosophies at home. I have also gained experience at Early Head Start Programs in addition to working for Edgewater Preschool, West Hollywood Preschool, and Westside Children’s Center. I have a current BLS certification, clean driving record/background, and would be willing to take any drug test. I also have up to date immunizations and a negative TB test. Moreover, I am a happy mother of a 5-year old active boy! Growing up, I learned how to play the guitar and drums, how to dance ballet, act in theater plays, and defend myself through Aikido. During my free time, I enjoy surfing, hiking, walking, cooking, cleaning the house, and reading. I also like to paint, draw, and write whenever I can. Hi! I am 28 years old, have an AA in American Sign Language/Interpreter Training and am a behavior technician. I speak fluent English and Spanish and am still learning to fully communicate in ASL. I get along with kids, due to the many in my family, and love to get creative and fun with them. I get my experience from babysitting children of family and friends, and have cared for kids of all ages, especially since starting on urbansitter. Hello! I'm currently a Design Consultant at an SF based apparel and accessories company. I enjoy making furniture, cooking, and doing anything creative. I have been a nanny/sitter for six years and have worked with children ranging from 3 months-5 years old. As the oldest sister of eight siblings my story life helped me to develop the skills to care for kids of all ages, evolving into a problem-solving patient caregiver. In my youth, I started volunteering as a babysitter and tutoring in my community. Later, I went to medical school and graduated as an International Medical graduate in Ecuador, I am currently volunteering at Yale School of Medicine conducting remote research on child development while studying to take the exams for the US medical license. While in college, I practiced Andean folkloric ballet as a professional dancer which aided to sharpen my skillset for teamwork and leadership, expanding my creativity which comes in handy in activities for kids. I am fluent in English and a native Spanish speaker, so I could tutor kids teaching Spanish if it’s an interest of their parents for them to become polylingual. I am also an adept pet house sitter and enjoy gardening. I have professional knowledge on nutrition and am passionate about children's well-being and healthy lifestyles. I am a loving aunty of four cuties, and I like to keep up to date with the animated movies to be able to give them my point of view on their topics while reading fantasy books to them as much as I can.
