Hi! My name is Scott and I am a father of two very vivacious kids. As they are Twins, even more so! I can help with whatever is needed as I have probably done it already! I do also gravitate towards helping with any senior care. I had deaf grandparents so helping seniors has been ingrained in me since the beginning. Greetings families :) I was born and raised in the Philippines where I gained experience teaching children basic reading, writing, drawing, and conflict resolution during high school. I have been in the US since July 2011. I graduated from Santa Monica College with high honors in Early Childhood Education in June 2019. I earned my BA in Child Development from CA State University Long Beach with Magna Cum Laude honors in Fall 2021. I've gained practicum experience at the Growing Place Ocean Park and Marine Campus which both hold the same philosophy I believe in - constructivism. Through this lens, children learn best through play - based on their interests and engagement, which encompasses a broad spectrum of academic subject matter including science, math, arts, and problem solving. Play also presents the opportunity for children to develop prosocial behavior and self-regulation among peers, necessary to succeed not just in academia but in life. I am also a firm advocate of respectful, responsive, and reciprocal care wherein children are valued with consistency. They are human beings capable of learning through trial and error - born with a drive to engage in the scientific method to reach their own conclusions about the world around them. As a caregiver, it is not only my responsibility to support their development by extending their interests through scaffolding but also follow their parents’ lead with methods and philosophies at home. I have also gained experience at Early Head Start Programs in addition to working for Edgewater Preschool, West Hollywood Preschool, and Westside Children’s Center. I have a current BLS certification, clean driving record/background, and would be willing to take any drug test. I also have up to date immunizations and a negative TB test. Moreover, I am a happy mother of a 5-year old active boy! Growing up, I learned how to play the guitar and drums, how to dance ballet, act in theater plays, and defend myself through Aikido. During my free time, I enjoy surfing, hiking, walking, cooking, cleaning the house, and reading. I also like to paint, draw, and write whenever I can. I have over 30 years of childcare experience both privately and professionally. I am a homeschool parent to 4 young children, including 3 teenagers. While I was in college to obtain a bachelor's in education, I worked as both a nanny and in a daycare for the local school district. I believe that children are full humans deserving of the same respect we would give any adult. I prefer gentle parenting and guidance in lieu of punishment. As a mom, I am well versed with the complex inner workings of running a household. I cook, clean, and everything else for my own family. As for pets, I am a proud kitty mama and have assisted in raising over 50 neonatal kittens as a foster volunteer.

I am BLS CPR certified and proficient in Spanish. I tend to take a screen-free approach, unless the parents say otherwise, to encourage creativity and flexible thinking. I believe in developing a sense of trust, communication and respect with all families I work with. If you have any pets, I can make sure that their needs are met as well. Additionally, I am not opposed to doing light housework (laundry, dishes, tidying up), to keep things running smoothly once I depart. My name is Markie and I am a 29 year-old with a B.A. in Legal Studies and Politics. I have just completed law school and I am currently awaiting CA Bar results. I am the middle child of 5 children and have always played a huge role in looking after my siblings. I have worked as an au pair or live-in nanny and tutor in Italy for two young children. I absolutely love children and even took several child development classes in my undergraduate career. I am also CPR certified. I have also been told I can make some amazing Mexican food dishes!
