My strategy with kids (and seniors) is to slow down, answer all questions and give them options. As big sister to three boys, my entire childhood and young adulthood involved caring for kids. Once I left home, I became a certified post-partum doula, then went on to nanny full time. I became more curious about teaching kids, so became a theater teacher for kids ages 3-11 for 6 years. Throughout my professional journey, I’ve worked in roles that required patience, leadership, and organization — from developing educational programs at DePaul to mentoring teens at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center.
