I have a diverse background in child, pet, and senior care. I have been babysitting since middle school (where I even took an official course and got CPR certified), coached youth soccer camps and travel club teams of boys and girls ages 6-10, was a mentor of middle-school aged girls through Girls Inc of Indianapolis and tutored/volunteered at several inner-city after-school programs, and have tons of experience with kids of all ages because of my large family (I have 20 first cousins younger than I am and have often watched my neice and nephew over the years while my siblings were on vacations, even when they were under a year old).
I have always loved animals (wanted to be a vet when I was a child), and have extensive experience particular caring for dogs because of my ownership and foster experience (I have had pets and shared responsibilities for them since childhood). I have also cared for cats--I love them but have a mild allergy, so I tend to limit those to short pop-in visits depending on the breed. Some limited experience with basic tending of birds (parakeets, lovebirds, macaws); and small animals such as hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, etc.
The past couple years I have focused on working as an in home health supportive services worker, particularly for seniors with mobility and memory decline issues (helping them with their house chores, cleaning, preparing meals, and generally providing companionship.)
I've always found success and enjoyment in child/pet/senior care positions because I have a very calm, patient demeanor, high emotional intelligence which helps me connect with both introverts and extroverts, an extremely creative mind that keeps children engaged, a great sense of humor/willingness to be silly with young kids (I am known as the "favorite" aunt and always asked to join their vacations), and am known as "an old soul" who enjoys keeping seniors company and helping improve their lives in ways they no longer can manage themselves.
I always feel a strong sense of pride in being able to provide my clients with the confidence to leave their loved ones in my care and come back to them just as happy or happier than when I arrived :) I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give people is their time back to them when they need a break or just assistance in this difficult economic period we're experiencing. If you're looking for a fun, dependable, experienced caregiver, I'd love the chance to help you! :) *I'm also fluent in Spanish
