I have always been a natural born care giver. Growing up with a brother nine years younger than myself in a single parent household, I took on a lot of responsibilities at a young age. I also babysat for a number of families in our neighborhood. Caring for my brother, making meals and helping out around the house. In my adult life I have worked as a full time nanny for a family with two young boys, an area that I was of course quite familiar to me. I have also been a step mother. I love kids, and although I don't have any of my own (yet!) I have enjoyed being a part of my niece's and nephew's lives and those of my friend's children. I am a very creative person. I love to learn and explore. I went to the University of Minnesota studying fine art. I later became a pastry chef. I have a passion for food and cooking. I love to teach and have fun. I think that learning should be fun! I am easy going. I love to get outside and explore nature. I am always there to lend a listening ear, a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on. I currently work as a special education assistant in the Minneapolis school district and have been in this role for the past five years. I have experience working with children on the autism spectrum, as well as those with emotional and behavioral needs, from kindergarten through 6th grade. Before this, I worked as a teacher’s assistant in a daycare setting for over four years, caring for children from infants to school age. Hello!! I retired early after 38 years of teaching. I received Elementary Education as well special education degrees from Luther College in Decorah, IA. I later received my Early Child Special Education degree from Mankato State University and my Graduate Degree from St Mary's University. I am presently driving two hours to care for my 2 year old granddaughter in Hopkins, Mn. I typically watch her two weeks each month, and rotate with a couple others. My schedule varies. I typically do not watch her on Tuesdays or weekends. She truly has been a blessing in our lives.
