I grew up in a large Haitian family so I've been babysitting for as long as I can remember. When my studies brought me to Hamilton College, I continued to babysit for professors and administrators alike. There I pursued an interdisciplinary major in Genetics & Social Justice with a focus on reproductive health. As part of my major, I got the opportunity to study maternal and child health in the U.S., Vietnam, South Africa, and Argentina. Living and learning in such different environments exposed me to children of all ages and backgrounds and taught me that in the absence of a shared spoken language, games are a universal language that can create a genuine connection with children all over the world. For the past 8 years, I've worked as a private tutor with elementary school-aged children and provided academic support in a variety of subjects. In addition to this, I provide semi-regular and occasional childcare services. If you'd like to book me, send me a message and I'll respond as soon as possible. Policies 1. I require a minimum of 48 hours notice if you’d like to cancel or reschedule a booking. Otherwise, I expect 50% of the payment for the booking. 2. I request a car service home for bookings ending after 8 pm. 3. I am willing to care for sick children as long as they’re not contagious, but please notify me in advance so I can plan accordingly. 4. I expect payment for the full booking even if you return home early. 5. My booking minimum is 3 hours. 6. My pricing for babysitting and private tutoring are distinct. Hiya! I have 15 years of experience working with kids of which I was a nanny for 10 years, and I’ve worked with children from 2 days old to 17 years old. I've also worked in several schools in different roles, working with students both with and without special needs ages 6-19. I spent the 2[removed] school year in San Antonio working as a mentor and tutor in a highschool with City Year, a well known AmeriCorps program. I worked with students on behavior, set goals for improving attendance, and wrote lesson plans as well as tutored them in English 1 and 2(9th and 10th grade) to improve their grades. I have previously taken child development courses pertaining to positive discipline, behavior, and nutrition, and my CPR classes are always up to date. I love going to the park, beach, museums, and anywhere worthwhile. I love to construct anything a child can think of out of various materials, and am open to any ideas that they can throw at me. I adapt to any given child's needs, as not all children are the same. I do however enforce rules and guidelines that I feel are needed to have a great time without harming anyone in anyway. I am open to different parenting styles and techniques and will adhere to them with your child. Cancelations with less than 72 hours notice have a fee of 50% of booked time. Cancelations with less than 24 hours notice must be paid in full.
