Hello! My name is Mary and I'm excited to start working with you. I have a BA in English Lit with a minor in French. After graduating college I spent a year in France teaching English to French high schoolers. Before doing that I was a reading tutor and baby sat for many wonderful families, including families with autistic and ADHD sons. I have also worked as a skills coach for developmentally disabled adults and feel comfortable working with kids of different ability levels. I'm a lifelong Portlander, and am hoping to enter the outdoor education field after college. I've been babysitting for 10 years now, caring for children ages 3 months to 12 years. I also have experience as a daycare teacher (8 months at My Bundle of Joy in NE Portland), nanny, tutor, and camp counselor. I'm energetic, creative and attentive, and I really do love kids. I am a mother of 3. my daughter is 18 and my son is 6 and my other daughter is 2. my parents did foster care when I was younger, so I was exposed to all sorts of people and kids. I babysat for years, worked at a daycare and helped with many kids programs in my area and community. I love to be silly and creative.

I am a Portland native and I worked as a teacher for 4 years. I graduated with my BA from Lewis & Clark College and earned my MAT at the University of Portland. I am currently a volunteer on the board of a nonprofit and am starting up a small online business with an old friend. I enjoy soccer, hiking, singing with my gospel choir, teaching Girl Scouts how to sew, and I’m currently renovating a vintage Airstream. I started baby-sitting as a ten-year-old, and have since worked with children of all ages. Most of my experience is with elementary school age kids, but I love babies and toddlers as well.
