Hello! My name is Andrea. I've been professionally working for different childcare organizations and schools for over 15 years now. I have experience working with children of all ages, including toddlers and infants in both an educational and non-educational setting. In college I would babysit/nanny to supplement my student loans. I enjoyed the flexibility of the schedule as well as getting to work with different families. I graduated with a bachelor’s in Physical Activity and Exercise, Health Sciences, and a Master’s in Education. I taught full time for Portland Public Schools for 8 years but have recently decided to explore other career options. I love playing outdoors and being active, but I'm a native Oregonian so I also enjoy rainy day activities when I'm restricted to the indoors. Hey, I’m Teara! I am outgoing and fun. I like to do arts and crafts, story time, creative/messy games outside(depending on their preferences for weather, of course!) and am always open to trying/learning new thing to do with kids! I am a great communicator and willing give updates throughout the day. I’ve always enjoyed being around kids, along with animals. I love to watch them learn, develop new skills, question things or explain in ways we as adults don’t often think of and watching them find new interests. I have worked with kids for almost 10 years ranging from infants(2mo) -to preteens (12-13). I also have experience and am confident in my abilities when working with multiple young children at once. (1:4 ratio from ages 3 months- 2 years old) I started out with home babysitting for my family then eventually turned into family nannying for other families near me. I have continued to nanny part time for a few families over the last 10 years. Eventually, I found a daycare part time while in HS. & Also worked at a Child Development Center as the Wobbler Assistant & Lead Toddler Teacher for over six years. I have two kiddos of my own- 5 and 3 who love to socialize as well! I’ve recently taken a step back from working in a childcare setting (I definitely still try to stay updated and informed on trainings and child developmental info being learned/taught to teachers and caregivers) and just been taking on part time, last minute, date night gigs! However, I am open to something consistent if it seems like a great fit for everyone. My love and passion for kids has always been there. Unavailable from 7/14-8/29 Hello! After graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a minor in psychology, I was offered the opportunity to substitute teach for the school district. For six years I was lucky enough to be a substitute teacher for ages K-12. My passion for child development and psychology makes me eager to provide children with an environment conducive to being a healthy and happy child, while catering to each child's uniqueness and supporting their greatest endeavors. Because of my wide range of substituting, I have experience with behavioral differences, children of all levels of skillset, mindset, backgrounds, and ages. Much of my time was spent at the Montessori school working with gifted students and the other bit of my time was at the behavioral academy for children who benefitted from a bit more TLC, in between these extremes I was regularly subbing in traditional classrooms. Due to the pandemic, and the closure of schools, I began working in research and development at a lab in Washington and I have since dabbled in healthcare as a CNA, doing so was rewarding and helped solidify my passion for caring for others and taught me a great deal about caring for seniors as well. My current career goals are centered to be in healthcare within the next year. In my free time you can find me in the sunshine, chasing my crazy beagle, paddle boarding, and experimenting in the kitchen.
