Hello, Hola, Bonjour! My name is Sophia and I am a 33 years old childcare professional. My grandparents were from the Philippines and my grandma was from Staten Island, NY! With over 15 years of experience in childcare, including nannying, babysitting and work in preschool classrooms, I am passionate about creating a loving and nurturing environment for children. Currently, I work as a preschool teacher for a local school district. I have been working in a preschool setting for over 6 years and have been working with families as a nanny, babysitter and caregiver for over 15. I thrive on engaging children in a variety of activities, from outdoor adventures such as nature walks to creative pursuits such as building, painting and dramatic play. I believe in play based, child led environments. I love to observe, explore and facilitate children's development. I believe in meeting every child where they are and creating developmentally appropriate environments where they can thrive and grow. My love for travel and good food enriches my approach, exposing children to diverse cultures and experiences. In my early twenties I studied abroad which led me afterwards to be an au pair in both Germany and Switzerland. I am currently a student at the SRJC. I have my Associates degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences and am currently in my last semester to attain my AA Degree in Early Childhood. I plan to transfer to Sonoma State and attain my bachelors degree in ECE. I am inspired by children and their development and love creating joy for the world around them as they grow. Some hobbies I enjoy in my free time include skating, outdoor hiking, dancing, skiing and going to explore the tide pools at the beach. In the past six years I have recently been apart of synchronized skating and theater on ice teams where I went to both national and international competitions. My background as a figure skater and dancer allows me to bring creativity and movement into my interactions with kids. Helping the younger generation of figure skaters on ice fueled my interest in working with young children. In addition to my teaching experiences off ice I have been a figure skating coach at Snoopy's home ice for over 5 years. I have taught a variety of on ice programs including toddlers on ice, group classes and school programs to a variety of youth ages!
