I recently moved to Highland Park and will be starting my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Rutgers (New Brunswick) this September. At the moment, I am only looking for occasional babysitting jobs. Before moving to NJ this summer, I lived in New York City for five years while completing my master’s degree at Columbia University and working in the field of youth mental health. My education in Clinical Psychology, along with my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Child Development from UC Davis, has given me a strong understanding of child development, behavior, and children’s needs. I have over 10 years of experience working with children of all ages in a variety of settings. I’ve had numerous part-time nanny and babysitting jobs with children ranging from newborns to 15 years old. I also worked as a camp counselor for many years and as a math and reading tutor. I’m happy to help with homework, tutoring, and even college applications. I am reliable, extremely empathetic, kind, and funny, and I easily connect with kids to create a fun and safe environment. Lastly, I am a big animal lover and am open to pet sitting jobs as well!

I am a pre-med biology graduate from Morgan State University and a certified medical assistant. These studies have strengthened my understanding of health and safety, which is crucial to being a competent caregiver. As I continue my path of education, I hope to become a pediatrician who expresses my genuine compassion for caring for kids, not just physically but emotionally as well. As one of the oldest kids in my family, I have been accustomed to babysitting for quite some time. From babysitting my newborn nieces and nephews overnight to watching my cousins for almost a week. I also have experience in animal sitting for 2 years, whether that be dogs, cats, and even hamsters. Caregiving has been a pivotal part of my life since I was younger, growing up in my household. Having to assist my younger brother and sister with homework, cooking them dinner, and being a beacon of knowledge, care, and love for them. I love caregiving because I enjoy being a dependable person that people can count on. It gives me a sense of purpose because I know that I am playing an essential role in their life. Constantly showing up and being present, supporting their development, reminds me that even little, everyday actions such as these are the ones that make a difference and create a village for kids to be nurtured and grow healthily.

My name is Dirian I am 18 years I do attend college full-time, my major is Biology Health Professions, and I do wish to become a doctor someday. I have two younger siblings and a few baby cousins and a cat and dog, I have babysat plenty of times, I also took care of my grandmother for some years while she took her chemotherapies, made sure she had everything she needed, and felt taken care of. I also am Cpr, Aed, and First Aid Certified.

While this would be my first time baby sitting officially, I have a strong background in working with children through my experience as a student athlete over the past four years, where I engaged with kids in various settings such as camps and after games. My time in these roles has honed my patience and understanding, qualities that are important for caregiving. Additionally, growing up with my mother, a neonatologist in the NICU, has given me invaluable insights into infant care and a deep appreciation for working with babies. I have often gone with my mother to her work, which has made me even more passionate about caring for young children and has given me hands-on experience. These experiences make me well-qualified to be a reliable and caring babysitter.

I am a mom to 2 teenaged boys and have 20+ years teaching experience, mostly at the secondary level. I have significant experience working with children with a variety of special needs and allergy protocols. I am an advocate of limited screen time for children and am happy to read, play board games, and spend time outdoors with them. I have always had a dog and am very comfortable with pets. I am looking for occasional work on weekends and during school breaks.
