Hi! I’m Melissa, a 27 year old longtime babysitter, newly back in the U.S. after three years in London. I’ve been babysitting for over 10 years, with experience ranging from toddlers to early teens. I first became the go-to sitter in my neighborhood growing up in Philadelphia, and word quickly spread - my parents’ coworkers started calling on me too! Over the years, I’ve also taken on pet-sitting duties for both dogs and cats, sometimes for a few days and other times for several weeks at a time. I’m responsible, communicative, and deeply respectful of the routines and values that matter to each family. I studied English at Yale with a concentration in Writing, and spent a year as a Teacher’s Aide at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, where I worked with students across multiple grade levels. I also spent 3 years as a swim instructor at Empire Swim School in Tarrytown, teaching kids of all ages and skill levels to swim, so I’m very comfortable working with children in all kinds of settings. Additionally I have years of experience nannying and babysitting kids of all ages. As a varsity athlete who trained 20+ hours a week, I bring a lot of energy, patience, and structure to everything I do. I’m an art teacher with nearly 10 years of experience working with children of various ages. Over the years, I’ve worked as an after-school counselor, a camp counselor, and currently as a full-time teacher. These roles have given me a strong foundation in child development, classroom management, and creating engaging, structured environments where kids feel both supported and inspired. What makes me a great caregiver is my personality as much as my experience. I’m very personable, patient, and kind, and I naturally connect with children by being a bit silly and playful while still maintaining clear boundaries. I believe in building genuine relationships with kids—so they feel safe, heard, and comfortable being themselves—not just seeing me as an authority figure. In addition to childcare, I’m also comfortable supporting light household needs and maintaining an organized, calm environment. As for pets, I grew up with cats and currently have one of my own, so I’m very familiar with daily pet care, feeding routines, and understanding animal behavior. Hello! I’m an Art History major at the University of Virginia and currently a visiting student at NYU. I have several years of experience babysitting for family, friends, and younger cousins, as well as volunteering as a tutor for kids from pre-K through middle school.
