Mom of three with hands-on experience working in an elementary school preschool special education classroom. I’m patient, nurturing, and comfortable managing different needs, routines, and behaviors. As a dog owner, I’m also very comfortable with pets. I prioritize safety, clear communication, and creating a calm, positive environment for children.
As a recent newlywed, I'm new to babysitting (used to in my teens) but I'm excited to gain more experience again with children of all ages as my husband and I plan to start a family in the next few years. My background includes a BA in Communications from Columbia College in Missouri, and minors in English and Film Studies. I have CPR training from eight years of serving in the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant, so my first aid skills apply mostly to adults, but I have reviewed several training videos recently on CPR for toddlers and babies. I would love to share any of my skills and hobbies — music, golf, writing (creative and non-fiction), cooking/baking, and even basic French — with any children who are interested! Here's a little background about my interests: I have played piano and violin since I was 10 and 11 years old — while I played violin in Mizzou's orchestra in college, I no longer play professionally, although I continue to practice piano frequently. I'm also an avid golfer and have played since I was 12, and even taught my husband how to play! I'm a published fiction author and have a passion for writing. I've worked in media and marketing full-time since college and now work part-time with Chicago Star Media (used to be full-time and ran the company until we moved out of Chicago, but I continue to oversee the editorial side of things). A few years ago, I also created my own blog called "Sincerely, Ashlea" to be able to write about things I'm passionate about, including beauty, travel, books, food and wine. Since getting married, I have fallen in love with cooking and baking! I explore new recipes and recently overhauled our entire kitchen to remove all processed foods from our diets at home, so I make pretty much everything from scratch. I have cookbooks by moms who enjoy cooking with their children, so I have plenty of kid-friendly recipes handy. While I'm not fluent, I've loved French since taking it in high school and visited Bordeaux. I've been relearning this summer and have remastered the basics with a 115-day Duo Lingo streak. I am eager to positively impact your children's lives in any way that I can! NOTE: If driving or picking up kids from school is required, I would need a car provided (my husband and I moved to the beach from downtown Chicago in April, so I don't have a car). Because of this, I do prefer families that I can easily access via the train along the shore and/or within a 45-minute walking distance.
Experienced infant specialist with 16 years of childcare experience caring for children from as young as 3 weeks old through adolescence. I specialize in newborn and infant care, providing calm, attentive, and nurturing support while helping families maintain consistent routines and a peaceful environment. I’m especially well-suited for families seeking reliable infant care, evening/date-night coverage, or overnight support when children are asleep. I hold dual Bachelor’s degrees from Brandeis University in Biology and Health: Science, Society and Policy. My background includes working as a Teaching Assistant at the Lemberg Children’s Center, serving as a Youth Counselor with the Police Athletic League in Brooklyn, and teaching violin to children of all ages. I currently work part-time as a middle school teacher and professional violinist. Families describe me as patient, dependable, warm, and highly attentive. I genuinely love supporting children in their earliest developmental stages and creating a safe, comforting environment where both children and parents feel at ease.
“She was so wonderful! Our son slept in her arms most of the time he was so peaceful ”
Hi- My name is Leslie and I’m currently a part time childcare provider and student at Hunter College. I have been caring for children since I was 12 years old and absolutely love it, I am easy going and energetic. Those early interactions with kids is what led me to my career path of studying Early Childhood Education and becoming a teacher. In past and present years my responsibilities have been everything from playing with kids, making meals/snacks, diaper changing, taking to various activities, reading to them, helping with homework, light tidying up, school pick ups and a host of other duties. I have worked with all ages ranging from newborns to pre teens and can also offer numerous references on site if that is something that would make any family feel more at ease. My experience with the elderly/seniors is associated with the care of both my grandparents. I have assisted with giving medications, helping in daily hygiene care, cleaning and making beds, cooking/food prep, taking to appointments and just generally being a friendly ear and companion to help brave the long hours in the day. I look forward to being of great help to any families that need it.
“Leslie is absolutely wonderful. She has watched our infant son since he was 4 mos old! With my son, Leslie is engaging, kind, energetic and was wonderful at soothing him for nap time. With us, Leslie is dependable, considerate, and an overall joy to be around. Leslie has not only bonded with Lucas but also our small doodle. If you are looking for someone to help out with your infant, Leslie is definitely the one! However, it’s clear she excels at bonding and engaging with children of all ages with her personality and vast educational experience! Thank you so much Leslie!! See you soon :) :)”
Hi! I’m Chloe, a ER nurse with over 8 years of experience working with children. I’m CPR certified, dependable, and passionate about creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment where kids can thrive. Before becoming a nurse, I spent over 5 years performing as a princess at Disneyland, bringing creativity, imagination, and joy to children every day. I’ve also worked in classrooms, volunteered through my church, and led a boot camp for more than 100 girls ages 3–12. I have a reliable car with a clean driving record and am happy to help with school pick-ups, drop-offs, transportation to activities, and errands. Babysitting is something I genuinely enjoy because I love building relationships with families. Whether we’re playing outside, doing crafts, baking, reading, or playing games, I strive to keep children active, engaged, and having fun while always prioritizing their safety. I’m calm, responsible, and adaptable, and I’m happy to follow your family’s routines and parenting style.
