I will also never forget the family who lived in my building here in new york, whose daughters - ages 4 and newborn I watched at least once a week, sometimes more, sometimes just coming over to play and visit; ballet, painting, storytelling, and going on adventures full of imagination and play were all part of the itinerary - all while keeping to the required schedule for feeding and bedtime, of course. :) Most importantly, I have 3 siblings, including two younger brothers, both of whom I adore. I am older than the youngest by 7 years, so by the time I was 13 I not only began babysitting professionally but also proved both my responsibility and joy to play on a constant basis as I watched over my brothers. I have an 11 year old niece who is the apple of my eye. I was 16 when she was born, and my sister worked full time, so my primary job in high school was to come over after school and take over for my mom and watch my niece for the day, starting when she was a newborn to around 2.5 yrs old at 2-3 times a week for long afternoons until my sister came home.
