My passion and calling is caring for children. The safety and well being of my charges are paramount to me. I have 30 + years of experience working with children (including but not limited to children with various special needs) in Brazil, Germany, India, Hawaii and now here in CA. Tending to each child's needs with regard to his/her unique personality and developmental stages is my main goal, while still having fun in the process! Families that have experienced my care services describe me as reliable, creative, accommodating, patient, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, loving, and firm when needed (see reviews). Our time together is filled with adventures, age-appropriate activities, reading, imaginative play, walks in nature, music, Yoga, dance, and lots of love. My background is in Speech and Language Therapy, Montessori, and Infant/ Child Development. I am a mother of a 27 year-old son (graduated from UC Berkeley /Computer Science) and a 24 year-old daughter. (UC Santa Cruz /CS). Current CPR/First Aid. Trust Line registered, clean driving record and I own a reliable car. I do not smoke, use drugs, or drink alcohol. During the time your child is under my care, my phone usage is limited to communicate with you. I am fully present, engaging and giving the children my undivided attention. “Nadia was amazing with our son. She was warm, punctual, thorough, and communicative. Our son loved her!”
I love children and children love me. I’m very lucky and blessed, children are enchanted with me and we naturally delight in each others company. I am a highly trained caregiver in providing for your child’s mental, emotional and physical needs. I bring over 25 years of practical experience with children, from infancy through teenage-hood. I’ve had unique opportunities of working with children ranging in needs from being deemed extremely gifted to being a patient in a lock-down psychiatric ward. It’s important to me that children are given the opportunity to and learn to cultivate their ability to: thrive, be resilient, express themselves fully, develop high levels of self-efficacy & self-worth, love and be loved. I love to play! I’m crafty, artsy, musical, adventurous, active, happy and have great boundaries! Children naturally love me, this makes my job very easy. 😍 (I’ve also worked as a private chef, caterer, and personal assistant.) Some of my experiences with children include: -2 summers of teaching K-5 Science and Art for summer school, 4 yrs of substitute teaching, 2.5 years teaching pre-school for 3'-4's, 2yrs as aTiger Cub 'mom', 2 years I ran a Children's Crisis Shelter, 4 yrs I worked in a lock-down Psychiatric Children's Facility. I was a licensed Respite Care Provider and Foster Parent. I contracted with Child Protective Services for 5 years. I created a program working with Autistic boys (1 yr), for 4.5 years I was a Family Builder Specialist and Program Manager, for 2 yrs I was a Child Developmental and Behavioralist Specialist. I have been a temporary, part time, and full time nanny and sitter for over 20years. Over Covid lockdown I ran a private school and course for grades k&1. I volunteer with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Adventure Scouts, food kitchens, Women’s DV shelters... Using my expertise in emotions, I teach classes for parents (and also for children) on empowerment, emotional development and intelligence, transformation, and self efficacy/esteem. ** Please note that I have cancellation policy - if you cancel a booking with in a week of, I charge a $50 cancellation fee or 50% of the booking, whichever is higher. After having several last minute cancellations I’ve had to implement this policy, thank you for understanding! **

Hi! I’m Julia, a professional nanny with over 10 years of experience supporting families and caring for children of all ages, from newborns to school-aged kids. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of São Paulo and over 12 Early Childhood Education credits, which have helped me develop a strong foundation in child development, communication, and creative learning. I’ve worked with a wide range of families, including those with infants (starting as early as 4 months), premature twins, toddlers, and multiple siblings. My experience includes everything from bottle feeding, sleep training, and potty learning to creating educational play activities, supporting developmental milestones and organizing enriching outings. I’ve also navigated food allergies, maintained structured routines and provided overnight care when needed. I believe in a gentle, respectful approach while holding firm and loving boundaries and I love fostering independence, curiosity, and confidence in every child I care for. What I love most about nannying is forming deep, trusting relationships with the children and families I work with. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch little ones grow and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment where they feel seen, supported, and celebrated. I aim to be a calm, steady presence in a family’s life. Someone who brings joy, structure and a helping hand whenever it's needed. A little about me: I live in Walnut Creek with my wife and two dogs. I’m fluent in both English and Portuguese, have a clean driving record and am certified in First Aid and CPR. Outside of work, I enjoy photography, cooking, hiking, and hosting friends for game nights or home-cooked meals. I’d love to learn more about your family and how I can support your child’s growth, happiness, and daily routine. Looking forward to connecting!
“Thanks so much, Julia! Can't wait to have you back!”
Certified birth and postpartum doula, as well as nanny guru! I have had the opportunity to live and travel throughout South America as a former Sr. Brand Manager for Avon Cosmetics. Due to this career I was able to pick up two more languages. I speak fluently: English, Portuguese, and I am a native Spanish speaker. I hold a Bachelors degree in Marketing more recently got my MBA and more than 20 years of experience working within an executive setting. I am now married with a 12 years old son who is simply my pride and joy. Having a child has been the most fantastic experience in my life and I enjoy every second of the responsibility. When children are babies or toddlers they have the ability to absorb so much knowledge. We should take advantage of this opportunity and teach them all that we can. It is such a joy to see the expression on a child’s face when they experience something new for the first time. As a mom, I know how precious our kids are, so I make sure to always be prepared for any situation. I'm charismatic, playful, loving, honest, responsible, organized, clean and thoughtful. I’ve learned how to diversify my cooking for almost any child’s taste buds. Certified in CPR and First Aid as well as bass experience with special need children. I have different Certifications: Birth and Postpartum Doula, Breastfeeding and Child early development counselor and Perinatal Nutrition Educator. My style of babysitting is to work on teaching daily routines, staying creative, and making every visit memorable and fun. And nowadays I work in a Foundation that helps Seniors which has being a great experience too. I make sure meals are balanced - veggies-fruits-cereal and protein, but at the end they are kids and we need to find fun ways to make there meals appealing, fun and different. I have worked with many different families outside of urbansitter, caring for children (boys and girls) from premise/newborns to 15 years old kids. I have references immediately available upon request. I look forward to meeting your family, and becoming a valuable resource when you need a responsible and experienced professional child sitter.
