I have been a CHAMPS volunteer [Monticello, R. A. Long, and Kessler] and working for DCYF as a Special Needs FFN Caregiver for the last 5 years while attending college so I already have my MERIT and STARS numbers. My last position was at Northlake Elementary as a Paraeducator High Needs Extensive[Intensive] watching 13 kids with 2 other para's.

I am a stay at home mom and I have 5 little ones of my own Jana 7, Mason 6, Weston 5, Cecilia 3 & Olivia 1.5. I enjoy seeing kids having fun and smiling! Enjoying the simple things in life! It would be appreciated if I could babysit at my house if at all possible with having 5 of my own. But my kids are friendly and love to interact with other kids. I am very outgoing, caring, loving, friendly, my house is already busy with kiddos and would love to help others in need of babysitters because I know how hard it can be to find your little one a place to be at during work hours or errands to run or even a date night or night out! Please consider me, just want your little one to be comfortable here and hopefully would enjoy running around with my kids as well! Also we have a dog named Snowball she is really sweet.

The wonderful thing about loving your job is it’s easy to show up with a smile and a positive attitude. I really like working in the care sector and especially enjoy watching children grow, learn and become individuals. I live alone so I have flexibility with my schedule. I do have a cat if you are allergic. I am hoping to focus on childcare for all ages. In the past 14yrs I’ve cared for, and spent time with, children between the ages of 4 and 17, between 1[removed] I had experience with infants and toddlers. My niece and nephews are my greatest joy. One nephew is neurodivergent and my niece is special needs, I only mention this because it taught me patience, healthy coping skills and communication. Practically speaking, what I can offer: 1) I can cook and bake, focusing on vegetable heavy dishes. If you have a craving for spanakopita or NY cheesecake? I can provide. 2) I’m a very safe driver with a reliable car. I haven’t had a car accident or traffic ticket since 1995. I’m more than happy to drive to do errands, pick up groceries, do school pick ups & drop offs and trips to the soccer field. 3) I’m a VERY creative person! I have a ton of arts and crafts supplies that I can bring for everything from watercolors to polymer clay sculpture. I’m also good with stories, silly songs and funny dances. 4) I am happy to help with a little homework (familiar with Montessori teaching practices) playing games, reading nighttime stories and TALKING with children to develop vocabulary and communication. I should mention I’m open to being a support person for child birthday parties or group outings. I’d be thrilled to do elder care and am very respectful, soft spoken when appropriate, and would be just as happy playing cribbage as reading whatever is of interest to my client. I honesty enjoy looking at family photo albums and listening to THEIR stories. I volunteered for 11 years at a care facility painting the ladies nails and reading to male and female clients. Have experience working with clients who have dementia. And finally I can do cat and small dog sitting duties. I have had cats living with me for decades, and few dogs too. I’m very pet friendly. I have been working in the field of Occupational Therapy for 33 years, 17 of them in the schools with children with special needs. I have raised three children of my own and have 5 delightful Grandchildren. I like to plan fun age and developmentally appropriate activities to assist in developing self-esteem, creativity, self-expression, curiosity, character and compassion. I enjoy seeing and assisting children thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. My Grandchildren know that "Nana's" most important job is keeping them safe. I encourage children to problem solve and to communicate openly. Communication is key in all my relationships no matter the age. I was a life guard as a young adult, a Girl Scout leader and volunteered for outdoor adventure companies that work with the physically challenged population. I even taught adaptive PE for a term. I co-owned an organic farm CSA for 10 joyous years. We also made herbal products and sold them at the Farmer's Market. I am an animal lover as well so be assured that your pets will also receive attention. Some call me the dog or the cat-whisperer... (Side note: I am a petsitter as well). I don't watch much TV as there are too many other choices as my interests are numerous from backpacking, kayaking, traveling especially in the developing world, volunteering, spending time with animals, my family and friends and of course my Grandchildren, reading, music, the performing arts, skiing, crocheting, yoga, crafts, gardening and trying to make this world a little more kind, more fun, lighter... Life is to be celebrated as it is a gift to share and enjoy with others and possibly to make their life a bit easier along the way.
