My experience includes babysitting for parents i've met through jobs i've had in the past, friends & through this app. I've babysat throughout the summers & done after school care as well. I've also been working as a paraprofessional at a school here in Oakland for the past 2 years. I enjoy working with children and find it an extremely rewarding experience. I always make sure to take great care and exercise all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the children. I feel that I have all of the necessary qualities that make a good babysitter. Hello families! I love working with children and am looking for babysitting opportunities with kids of any age! I enjoy spending time with kids doing crafts, reading stories at bedtime, and keeping them happy and safe. Some of my hobbies include photography, singing, knitting, and yoga. I am a graduate of San Francisco State University, where I studied psychology with an emphasis on child development. I have been babysitting since high school and have worked with many local families with kids ages 0-13. I was a tutor for a year at an after school program where I facilitated activities and helped the children with their homework. After graduating college I worked for a year and a half at a group home for kids (ages 6 to 18) who struggled with regulating themselves during stress. One summer I also worked at a pre-school prep where I interacted with kids ages 8 months to 3 years doing activities such as reading, singing, crafts, art and other activities. And then most recently I taught mindfulness for two years at Oakland Public Schools and have been substitute teaching for the past year. I was very active for many years on Urbansitter back when it first started from about 2012 to 2017 and then I took a long break from it to focus on other career goals. Now I’ve decided to make a return to it since I’m on summer break and am hoping to continue with it into the next school year as I plan to be part time with my regular job. You call me Evin/Evie/Ev! I am a graduate of San Francisco State University where I earned a BA in Child and Adolescent Development with a concentration in youth work and out of school time as well as a Minor in Africana studies. I also have a Masters (MA) in Drama Therapy at CIIS. For the last few years, I have worked as a coordinator for different youth programs throughout the Bay. A lot of the work I do centers on culture, healing, Mental Health, Restorative Justice, etc. I have been working with children for Almost a decade now. I started off babysitting for local families back in San Diego. Then it was more infant and toddler care. Right into college I worked in preschools for two years then went into summer and after school programs with school-age kids, and following that I was a camp counselor at a radical healing retreat with high school students. I now write curriculum for one of the summer programs I work for and after being a coordinator for both programs I am now a full time program manger. I am super into creativity and socio-emotional development along with education and safety. I pride my self in making children feel safe to learn and express themselves as well as discover who they are as individuals. I love supporting youth in all their endeavors and I truly have a natural understanding, patience, and connection with children.

You can count on me. 💗 Parents of type 1 diabetics—I got you. I can carb count, monitor CGM, site changes, treat highs & lows, the whole thing. I’ve been type 1 since age 8 and I use a Tandem pump with Dexcom. I've been sitting through this site since Nov 2013, usually ~30 hours per week. I've seen it all! My style with kids depends on the type of people they are (kids’ personalities vary just like adults’ do) and what the parents advise and prefer. I'm flexible! I love to travel to parks, I have a lot of great crafts up my sleeve, I know endless children's songs, I'll do as much physically active play as my body can take! I want the kids to have a good time and remember their experience with me fondly, while also keeping everyone safe & sound. I love hanging out with little folks. I love to hear what they think and see life through their eyes. Kids have unique perspectives. They are learning so much so quickly and from everywhere they can, so it's incredibly important to be mindful of that as a caretaker, modeling patience, good humor, seriousness when it's important to be serious, and attentiveness to the emotional needs of others. Kids can be funny, cute, curious, sweet, accidentally profound, and often super-bossy. They're exhausting in the best possible way. I also just adore infants and toddlers and I could hold them and play with them all day! I have been known to quickly figure out how to accommodate even the most challenging babies. I aim to be flexible! It’s OK if you need to cancel, I will not be upset or expect payment. It's perfectly OK to come home early, I will not expect payment for the full booking time. I will always stay longer if you need me to as well, so long as it doesn't interfere with another booking. I understand life is unpredictable and I hope I can make life easier for parents.
