Hello, I am Sonja, and I am a Berkeley Native. A proud graduate of BHS in 1986, and received my BA @ SFU in 1990. I have a Masters Degree in Adult Education and hold a Sub Permit in which I can work at any K-12 school. I choose my assignments and subjects with care. It goes without saying, I usually take assignments in Berkeley. Although, I can work anywhere, Berkeley is my home. I attended Thousand Oaks in the 70's, and was recently their year long floating sub from 2[removed]. I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. It definitely proved my flexibility as each day as my responsibilities held something different. That could be supporting TK - 5 in any capacity. Did I say I did this without training? I navigated daily from listening to stories, wiping tears, lunch duty, to PE teacher. You name it, I did it. What a life experience for me to become attached to these little people. I have an 9 year old great nephew and we have an amazing relationship. I'm grateful for his character and open mind, as I believe our relationship prepared me to work with children. Actually I babysat his mom, so yes, I’ve done this for years! (Decades) I'm a great caregiver because I am nurturing and patient with an amazing sense of humor. It goes without saying, I am flexible. Granted, I'm a bit old school, and I set boundaries of respect on both ends. When a child needs correction, it can be done with care by listening and explaining why we should make good choices. BUSD instills some great strategies and honestly they help me in my personal and professional life when working with adults. I love to dance and listen to music and so do most children, so there is balance and always fun. Reading books to children and teaching them new words is always a plus for me. One of my greatest strengths is organization. Whether that includes a clean classroom, getting clothes ready in advance, packing lunch etc. I am a great at multi-tasking while keeping structure. In conclusion, I'm just a normal fun and laid back person with a simple life, and I have evolved. I work and go to church. Years ago no one could have told me I could deal with an entire class of children. My ideal job, is a clean location, organized and detailed instructions and just good fun people that trust their child ( children) are in good hands. I have amazing references from friends and principals, and I look forward to meeting and hearing from you.

Hey! My name is Serena, with 2 years of professional nanny experience and 8 years of being the family nanny. I have experience with kiddos aged from 3 months to 14 years old. I've had experience with being the family babysitter since i was 15 years old. I offer childcare services, cooking for the kiddo(s), bath time, tidying up areas the kiddo and I use, and light laundry if need be. Some activities I typically do range from arts and craft activities, making baked goods/smoothies, reading books, outside play to tire them out, and board games. For younger kids I typically do more age appropriate activities, like sensory box play, tummy time, flash cards of numbers and letters.
