My name is Schnailah, and I bring a vibrant, enthusiastic, and open minded approach to babysitting. Growing up in Haiti, I developed a strong cultural foundation rooted in community, responsibility, and nurturing care. I was raised in a lively household surrounded by younger siblings and cousins, which gave me plenty of hands on experience with childcare and tutoring. As the eldest, I naturally took on a leadership role helping with homework, looking after their well being, and creating a supportive and encouraging environment. My passion for working with children extends beyond my family, as I also have formal babysitting experience. I have a dynamic personality, a love for adventure, and a genuine eagerness to learn, which helps me build meaningful connections with children while making sure they feel safe, supported, and engaged. I am currently a college student majoring in biology, with plans to attend dental school and become a pediatric dentist. Caring for children is not just a job for me it’s part of my long-term passion and future career, and I would love to bring that same care and dedication to your family.

Hello- My name is Sandra. I'm a dedicated, multilingual, and caring babysitter/nanny with a healthcare background that loves to be around children. I am also a Certified Lactation Consultant, and passionate about making the breastfeeding experience as smooth and wonderful as possible for both the parents and the baby. I moved to the U.S., a couple of years ago, to acquire the appropriate licenses needed to further my studies in the Medical field and become a Pediatrician. Having said that, I have worked with many children in clinics and hospitals abroad before and after becoming a licensed general physician in South America. I also have worked as a babysitter for an infant and as a nanny for a family of multiple kids (4 kids in total) simultaneously in NYC, so I have a great idea of what it entails. I’m also a great cook, detail-oriented, organized, and a great planner. To name a few, those are some of the reasons I say your children would be in great hands.

She was amazing with our three boys! She was kind, patient, and engaging, and they had such a great time with her. We would happily recommend her to anyone!

A little about myself — My name is Amanda (it’s also my legal name alongside my Burmese) I’m a Design&Tech student at Parsons; I took a gap year before I got to New York and spent the year doing community service by teaching English to underprivileged/orphaned kids in Burma, along with several law internships (big leap between left&right brain). Over the years I’ve found that not only do I get along with children, I’m also the floofy-lucid-dreamy person among my friends haha. I like to think I’m very easygoing and fun to be around and I’m very good with playing along the lines of silly & stern. I spend most of my time with kids (if we’re indoors) talking to them, asking many many questions, and always making them feel like their voices are heard as a person and not just as a child, but of course I’ve also always been a sporty person so we usually go on adventures around the city and play sports!! I love drawing from these experiences and using them in my creative conceptual work as well. I’m also a HUGE reader, and it’s part of the package that you may lose your children to the harry potter cult. P.S. Once I dropped a bowl of fudge in front of a kid, and I said, “Oh fudge” which shows that I am child appropriate AND have a sense of humor.

$32 per hour for 1 child
Booked by 135 families in Astoria, NY

Hi Prospective Parent(s)! My name is Fiona and I’m a junior at Colby College studying International Relations, Economics, and Chinese. I’m back home in New York City for summer break and would love to help out any families in need of childcare. I have prior experience caring for toddlers and elementary-aged children and have babysat since high school. I really enjoy spending quality time with the children I care for and getting to know their personalities and quirks. Though I may be younger than some other applicants, I take safety very seriously and will make it my number one priority. Also, I’m still at an age where I can relate to most children :) Notes: fluent in Mandarin, good knowledge with navigating the city and public transportation, no problem with being technology free. Note: I require 50% of the booking for same day cancellations

Fiona was so great. She was able to help very last minute and walked into a situation with a 10 month old and a 5.5 year old and jumped right in for a seamless night. Would absolutely recommend Fiona!

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
