Hi! I'm Shterna, and I'm 26 years old. I grew up in central Brooklyn in a big family of 11, with 28 nieces and nephews (ages 0-16) and over 100 first cousins. Being surrounded by kids my whole life, I naturally picked up childcare early on. I started working with kids professionally in middle school as a babysitter and summer camp counselor. After finishing school in 2018, I primarily worked as a nanny (with a brief stint in corporate) and continue to nanny today. I have lots of experience with newborns, multiples, classrooms (of infants, toddlers, and junior high-school) long shifts, overnights, and weekends, children who are unwell, as well as working with two-parent households and transporting kids around the city. I also have experience caring for dogs and cats, hold a driver’s license, and am vaccinated. Outside of work, I’m an avid reader and Boggle player. I love putting on makeup, jump on any opportunity to hear live-music, and enjoy schmoozing with friends. As a religious Jew, my weekend availability can be limited, but I’m happy to work around it when possible. I’m semi-fluent in Hebrew and enjoy sharing my culture with anyone interested! I look forward to hearing from you and am happy to answer any questions or provide additional information or references.

Very engaged with our son and highly professional.

Toddler Whisperer Available! My current full time family is relocating, so I find myself looking for a new position! I am open to a summer only job, or something longer term with the right family. My most recent longer term jobs have been taking care of toddlers, but I am also very experienced working with preschool and elementary school aged kids. I am a singer and teaching artist who has tons of experience working with children, mostly kids who are age 3 and up. I taught elementary school music for several years and now teach classes as well as private music lessons as part of my freelance lifestyle. When I am with kids, I love going to the park, singing, baking/cooking, reading stories, and getting creative! ***I have current First Aid/CPR certification and a valid NY license with a clean driving record. My rates for long term positions may be different than posted above depending upon the number of hours, children, and duties involved.

Shawn was attentive, caring, and great with our twin girls. I could not recommend her more highly!

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
