Booked by 1 family in New York, NY

With over six years of teaching experience, I bring a deep understanding of child development and education to every caregiving role. Most recently, I taught second grade at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, following several years of teaching in San Francisco public schools. I hold a Master’s in Elementary Education and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, which together give me a well-rounded perspective on the academic, emotional, and developmental needs of children, especially in the elementary age range. My approach to caregiving is rooted in empathy, consistency, and clear communication. I create environments where children feel safe, seen, and encouraged to be curious. I’m attentive to their individual personalities and needs, and I value the importance of both structure and play. My background allows me to support children not only in their day-to-day routines but also in fostering their confidence, independence, and emotional well-being.

Dzhanyl 1 review
Brooklyn
$25 per hour for 1 child

I have 13 years of experience as a caregiver for children and elders. I can be available in the evenings to help with meals, bath, bedtime and/or overnight care for babies. I am also open to evening and overnight elder care.

Dzhanyl has been a wonderful nanny for our family for four years. She is extremely reliable, flexible, caring, and has 13 years of experience working as a nanny. I am looking for work in a different capacity: she would like to help families who need evening, overnight, and/or weekend care. She can be available in the evenings to help with meals, bath, bedtime and/or overnight care for babies. She is also open to evening and overnight elder care, though we haven't employed her in that capacity. Dzhanyl began working with our family when our daughter was one year old in a part time capacity, and as our family has expanded to three kids (now 5, 3, and 1), so have her hours and responsibilities. In her current capacity, she primarily cares for our 1-year-old and 3-year-old, and occasionally for our 5-year-old. She is always eager to bring the kids outdoors to the park and playground, even if it’s rainy, snowy, or cold. She always shows up early for work, and has been very flexible to shift her schedule by the week to accommodate our calendars. She also helps with naptime, mealtime, pick ups and drop offs, and light housework. Additionally, she primarily speaks Russian to our children, but is comfortable speaking English if that’s preferred. Please feel free to reach out with any questions - happy to provide more on our experience.

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
