$20 per hour for 1 child
Booked by 1 family in Portland, OR

Hi, My name is Yana. I babysat throughout high school and during the summers through university. Babysitting helped lead me to becoming interested in child development, and eventually to becoming a preschool assistant teacher for three years. Being an assistant teacher taught me how to blend patience with authority in order to help and teach a classroom of ten or more students. I helped my coworkers maintain a healthy, fun classroom, and made sure we had a safe environment for all student and staff. Although I have loved teaching, I’d like to move into a more personal child care roll. My intention is to be a helping hand in looking after one or two kids. Additionally, I am an animal lover and would be happy to provide animal care as well.

Elfina 1 review
Portland
$20 per hour for 1 child

I love being a mom to 2 girls ages 11 and 18. I am up to date on all vaccines, and first aid/CPR certified, and have had lots of experience driving with car seats, kids. My kids are now back in school so I have lots of time to give to other families who may need help. I’ve nannied in the past for all ages(newborn through middle school). I try to find what sparks curiosity and joy in kids and then help them grow their interests in that subject. I like to engage with them via nature, music, art, cooking, and cultural activities. I’m comfortable being with family pets, helping with household chores when able. I am confident that I can offer you a reliable caring sitter for your child and/or children.

Elfina has helped care for our kids since they were babies. We have two very active boys and she is so engaging and fun with them. They stay active and they learn so much. She is dependable and our kids love her. We continually ask for her and highly recommend her for caring for your kids.

$20 per hour for 1 child
Booked by 3 families in Portland, OR

Hi there, I’m Corinne! I believe that creative play is integral to a happy life so being able to facilitate that for kids who are just discovering each new medium is a dream come true. I have a BFA in Studio Art from Western Washington University and have spent the past two years working at arts-centered preschools where I lead weekly projects for the students. Their fresh approaches and willingness to experiment are incredibly inspiring for me. I love babysitting and nannying because it gives me the opportunity to work one on one with kids which isn't always possible in a preschool environment. I have always been an avid reader and find a lot of joy in reading stories with children.

Corinne was easy to communicate with and was confident and gentle with our baby. She made us feel at ease and we would definitely recommend her!

Hi there! I’m I have experience nannying kids from toddler age to early teens. Last year I nannied before school and had a crew of kids for private after school care. I also have experience nannying for kiddos with special needs. I originally from Northern California and grew up spending a lot of time outside in the woods using my imagination and making fairyyyhy houses. I love animals and spending time outdoors, especially with kids because I love their curiosity! I also enjoy crafts and love starting art projects! I’ve always loved kids and felt really inspired by them. I think people can be their best and most creative self around kids because their minds are so active and curious it encourages you yourself to be! I have a peer support certification and trauma informed care certification in the state of Oregon from the board of Traditional Health Workers. This has helped educate me on deescalation and playing a supportive role for anyone and everyone! I grew up with a special needs brother and parents who worked so I spent a lot of time caring for him growing up. I believe this taught me executional skills of patience and gave me unique skills in communicating with children who can’t always communicate how they are expected to. Looking forward to the possibility of hearing from you!

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
