I am an experienced caregiver and former stay-at-home mom who raised two daughters from infancy through adulthood (both are now in college). My years of hands-on parenting shaped my patience, emotional awareness, and understanding of children’s needs throughout all of the developmental stages. I also have extensive experience in household management duties, and am a good cook. I am happy to do the weekly shopping, errands, and light cleaning around the schedule of those I am caring for. As for pets, I am the lucky owner of a little dog named Moxie, and have cared for many animals over my 44 years. In addition to dogs and cats, I have experience with chickens, ducks, pigs, birds, rabbits, and goats. Currently, and for the past seventeen years, I have spent much of my free time working as a paper artist, and I value creativity, curiosity, and thoughtful engagement. I love to incorporate creative activities and play into the time I get to spend with the children in my care. I love interacting with kids and seeing how their little brains work and process the world. tapping into play as an adult is so important and little ones are a great example of that. I have been working with kids since I was 14 years old and still watch my friend’s kiddos to this day. Ranging from infant to young children 10-12 years old. I also love pets! Hi! I'm Halo, a senior at Western Washington University, home in Vancouver for the summer. My time as a summer camp counselor has taught me a lot about kids of various ages, and how to manage all sorts of situations. What I love about working with kids is getting to see how they understand the world! It has always been really important to me to understand multiple perspectives, and I think the viewpoint children have is super important. I am also very interested in keeping kids entertained without screens! I love reading, board games, and playing outside, especially if we can work some learning opportunities into that play.
