Hey all, I’m Tristan. For kids: I have worked at a YMCA sleep away in the mountains of Utah for the past two summers. This camp, YMCA Camp Roger, is for kids aged 7-15. I would take care of cabins with 10 kids along with a co-counselor, but have plenty of one-on-one (or ten-to-one) experience. I primarily worked with the youngest kids in camp, 7-10 year olds, but have also worked with our special mini camp which goes down to 6. I’m great at forming connections with the kids, ensuring that even all ten kids feel like they are getting the attention they deserve. I would run activities such as teaching arts and crafts, magic tricks, nature walks, STEM, and any other summer camp activity you could imagine. Aside from just keeping kids entertained, I am trained in first aid and emotional support. Working with kids at sleepaway camp, I am well versed with helping kids through rough nights whether it's missing parents, not feeling well, or any other problem. Another trait from summer camp that could be relevant is behavioral and conflict management. I know many techniques for helping kids calm down and opening up about problems. Solution based approach around working through what's wrong and taking accountability. I know kids love to share their interests and I am ready to listen to you kid talk about what they care about for hours. Kid knows a lot about motorcycles? I will listen to motorcycle talks for hours on end. Some things I like to do in case your looming for shares of interest, I love board games, chess, any and all card games, both trading card games and 52 card deck games. For pets: I love animals. In my house there are dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, and rats. I can take animals outside for lengths of time, ensure animals have food and water, clean up messes made by animals, clean cages in general, and any other animal needs you may have.
