I started babysitting for my neighbors when I was 11 years old. I babysat for two families; the first had a 7-year-old and a newborn. The second family had three children, the youngest was an infant when I first started sitting for them. Not only did I watch the kids, I also typically cooked and served meals, cleaned the play areas and kitchen, and watched the dog. Hello! I have been babysitting since I was 13. During high school I was a regular caretaker for a 6 and 8 year old and their puppy. It was a joy to watch them grow over the course of a few years. I also had many other less committal gigs with kids ranging from infant to middle school. One example of a regular job was caring for a family of a 2,4 and 6 year old (and getting them all to bed!). Through out college I picked up some gigs here and there. One summer after college I ran a 2 week nature based day camp for 3-5 year-olds. I am a student teacher’s assistant for general chemistry at UVA and an in-home caregiver for dementia patients.
