Hello, I'm Kyla! I love the outdoors, art making of all kinds, and doing puzzles. My degree from NYU is in Early Childhood Education and Theater, combining my passion for theater with my knack for working with young people. I am also a trained and skilled private chef with a specialty in whole-ingredient, low-waste cooking, and experience working with a variety of specialized diets. I've spent the last 3 years as a combination private chef and teacher in a preschool for children aged 2-5. Multitasking in engaging conversations while creating nutritious and filling meals for 3 dozen toddlers everyday is a joyful juggling act! I love the magic and imagination of early childhood, and I thrive in the many ways it inspires me to improvise. For 18 months during the COVID lockdown, I ran a special "Kyla Camp" engaging 8 elementary students in daily activities and tutoring, to provide stability and crucial social-emotional development. Developing relationships with children and their families over time and working as part of their team, within their village, is deeply meaningful work. I am a play-based educator, and subscribe to elements of both RIE and Montessori style teaching. My instincts are to first observe behavior as communication of a need, to asses how that need can be met, and provide gentle redirection to allow a child-led exploration of the world. My experience as a private nanny is with children from 12 weeks to 10 years, and these principles have served me with children of all ages. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I enjoy spending time outdoors at the beach or camping in the mountains, so Southern California is a paradise to me. I love taking walks with my dog Gayle, who also enjoys the company of children.

My name is Alexandra and I am 27 years old. From a very young age I have attracted and been surrounded by children, but my first paid experience in the US began two years ago, when I decided to travel to this country as an au pair and experienced a cultural exchange. I developed new skills with infants and toddlers, sleep training, meal prep, motor development, crafts, sensory activities, baby milestones and much more (considering I lived with them).
