I have been a nanny and youth educator for over 10 years. Working with children of a variety of ages — 3 months to 15 years. My specialty is creativity and nature connection. I bring a sense of adventure and place and compassionate care for social emotional skills to my work. I take my job seriously, and because of my life as an educator I like to make any mundane day an event with an opportunity for learning and bonding. Professionally I teach drama, creativity, outdoor education for youth, and I guide a therapeutic embodiment practice for adults. I also work in the creative field as a performing artist and on all sides of event production. Because of this I marked weekend evenings as not generally available, however I am flexible at this time and will adjust for the right family! Finally, I am good at organizing and cleaning up a space. I am currently on the market for a car and could then run errands, etc.

New to Portland, OR, I moved here with my husband and two cats from Nashville, TN so I could study naturopathic medicine at NUNM. Before starting medical school, I worked as a professional nanny and part-time babysitter for 4 years after graduating from Vanderbilt University with my bachelors. I’ve cared for children of all ages from infant to pre-teen and we always find a way to have fun and learn new to things! My responsibilities have included meal prep, drop off and pick up from school or camp, morning and nighttime routines, and general tidying of the house. I would describe myself as punctual, professional, and flexible under pressure. I have reliable transportation and a clean driving record. I have also house sat and dog watched for a family I had nannied for, where my duties included checking food and water, administering medicine, and taking her for walks. Hi, I’m Charlie! I’ve lived in Portland for about 3 years now, but I am originally from Massachusetts. I am currently a senior psychology student at Reed College and I am planning to go to medical school post-grad. I have worked with kids of many ages, either through volunteering with schools (tutoring), or looking after family members and children of close family friends. I plan to work with kids in behavioral analyst positions, too, once I finish my undergrad degree. I am also taking some art courses and American Sign Language this summer; I love crafting, making art, and learning new things. In my free time I play music and sing. I unfortunately do not have a car or a driver’s license, but do plan on getting my license sometime this summer. I would call myself a very responsible, innovative, and caring person. I am also very attentive to detail, as as well as being CPR certified! Hi! My name is Maya! I love playing and learning alongside children and am highly patient and compassionate. I currently work as a part-time preschool teacher with kids 2-5 years old. I work with an awesome staff supervising 15 children where I help prepare lunches and snacks, assist in toileting when necessary, and engage in creative indoor/outdoor play. I have experience working with kids on the spectrum and other neurodivergence. I'm registered in the Oregon Central Background Registry and am pediatric CPR + first aid certified. I also occasionally babysit my neighbor's child, a 7-year old. We like to play outside, read, harvest fruits from the neighborhood, talk, and build. I love to be with kids outside and in garden spaces and have led volunteers at the children's garden at Wapato Island Farm. I grew up with five siblings and I believe it has made me a good listener and a compassionate mediator. In high school I regularly volunteered at my old Kindergarten-8th grade school.
