Most recent position was as a recreation Supervisor focusing mostly in Special Events for all ages. Began career with HCRP caring for children in after school programs and camps. Some additional experience includes working with people with disabilities and Seniors ( including my own parents - my Father had Alzheimer's). I hold degrees in Theater and English from the University of Maryland. Very Arts oriented and creative. Have my own physical limitations so Sports and highly physical activities are not my thing but any kid or adult who enjoys the arts and being silly will like me. I'm happy to stay home with your loved ones or take them out on a fun outting. I have transportation. I also have experience with personal care. I'm not a cook per se, but I can prepare basic meals. I also adore animals of all kinds. I have a dog of my own. Pets and babies usually like my singing....lol. I can do occasional overnights with proper notice. My dog is selective to some dogs / cats, so he will like and will play with, some not. It's unpredictable but worth a try. I have many family members and friends with pets he has met. Most have been successful. Only a few were not. ***Even if you don't have pets,but you want me to bring my dog with me to join the fun with your loved ones, I'm happy to do that as well. Hello, my name is Allyson! Caring for children has been one of the greatest joys in my life. I've been babysitting and nannying since I was 12 years old and have had the privilege of caring for dozens of families with children ranging from just 2 weeks old through 12 years old. I recently accepted a Lead Teacher role in an infant classroom at a daycare in Chesterfield. I just moved to the area from Wisconsin with my partner after earning my M.A. in Public Service from Marquette University. While I enjoy working with children of all ages, I have a special passion for caring for infants. Building trusting relationships with families is incredibly important to me, and several parents have shared that I was the first person outside of their family they felt comfortable leaving their baby with. I consider that trust an incredible honor and strive to provide every child with patient, attentive, and loving care. My graduate fellowship at a child welfare agency deepened my holistic approach to caregiving. There, I received training in trauma-informed care and Trust-Based Relational Intervention, strengthening my understanding of child development, emotional regulation, and the importance of secure, responsive relationships. I am also currently earning a Trauma Informed Care Certification through Michigan State University to continue expanding my knowledge and provide the best care possible for every child I work with. Whether we're reading books, exploring outside, creating art, or working through big emotions together, I strive to create an environment where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to learn. I'm also happy to assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, homework/educational activities, and pet care so I can be a dependable, supportive presence for your entire family. On a personal note, I love being in water, quality time with my partner, singing, going to parks, and snuggles with with my kitty, Miss Araya Sunshine.
