I have worked with the tutoring agency Kumon when I was a student at PSU and tutored kids from ages 2-10. I am also very comfortable with animals and have grown up with pets since I was a little girl and love to spend time in the sun outside!

I am *currently* a part-time substitute teacher in the greater Portland area. I've fulfilled a number of roles over the years, including full-time nanny, part-time sitter, a date night sitter, and personal assistant to the family. I have experience with full-time infant-care (transitioning to solid foods, preparing formula, etc), as well as balancing the routines of multiple children at once. I have been the "first babysitter" for kids with a range of ages, including baby, toddler, and early elementary. Skills/schoolwork: In addition to teaching, I have a background in elementary (basic math, spelling) and high school-level tutoring (grammar and algebra), both through private employment & volunteer work. Hello! My name is Mary and I'm excited to start working with you. I have a BA in English Lit with a minor in French. After graduating college I spent a year in France teaching English to French high schoolers. Before doing that I was a reading tutor and baby sat for many wonderful families, including families with autistic and ADHD sons. I have also worked as a skills coach for developmentally disabled adults and feel comfortable working with kids of different ability levels. My motto as a caregiver is patients, compassion, and most importantly having fun will make everyone's experience great.
