Spending time with kids comes naturally. Honestly, I learn so much about myself as an adult-But beyond that, kids remind me that it's the little things that matter, and I also get to see so many different types of personalities in babies!!!. It's certain moments that with them that completely take my mind off the stresses of school and my other job. I've been babysitting since I was 11 years old, I'm the oldest of over 60 kids in my huge Mexican family, so I've been babysitting for a LONG time! I started professionally babysitting when I turned 18, so I've gained experience working with different families. On the side I am a Behavior Technician. I have experience working with kids with autism starting at the age of 1. We work on communication and speech skills together in school and home settings while running programs targeted for their needs! I'm majoring in Criminal Justice and I'm working towards a career where I can help young women/minors who are going through trauma and legal issues. My dream is to make a difference in their lives in a hands-on way, and as someone who can guide and empower them to create positive change. Hey there, my name is Yeinell (or Jay for short)! A bit about me: I was born in the Dominican Republic but spent most of my life in NY up until college. I recently graduated from UC Berkeley where I studied psychology and public policy. I have been babysitting since I was 14 years old (not including being a full time big sis/eldest cousin). I have worked with toddlers for about 4 years and children from TK- 8th grade ages for about 7 years. Most of my work experience has involved caring for or learning to understand children; whether that is mentoring, teaching abroad, or conducting developmental psych research the past couple of years. I have in the past worked for a dog walking and cat sitting group where I honed my skills in the pet caretaking field. Currently, I work full time with Americorps at an elementary school in San Francisco managing behavioral issues/interventions, teaching the SEL Curriculum, and running the Mentoring For Success Program. I love hiking, snowboarding , BJJ , and meditation! I also love animals and have raised 2 kitties myself 🙂! I speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese and love learning about new cultures. I have a passion for helping others and fostering a healthy environment for children to grow inside and outside of the home.
