I have 5 years of experience in various childcare settings including Montessori, outdoor education, dance education, and traditional approaches. Hi, I'm Jade! I have a lot to say about my experience, as well as a fun fact about me at the end, so please read through this bio! I hold an associate's in Elementary Education, as well as a bachelor's in Anthropology (which I intend to use to become a children's librarian). I have worked in early childcare for about two years altogether, though that isn't counting the babysitting I don't put on my resume from when I was a teen to young adult. I have also tutored throughout college, helping kids grades 2nd-10th with all subjects. I love working with children; it brings me so much joy to bring them joy! I am a bubbly person who enjoys making games to play with all sorts of age groups. I have been told by colleagues that I show great patience with the kids in my care and work well with each child's abilities and interests when teaching new concepts so that those concepts stick. I pride myself in my ability to find a way to explain something in a way that each kid will understand. This goes not only for academic material, but also boundaries, day-to-day necessities, and other safety and health material. My favorite thing about working with kids is when I know I've made a positive impact on them, their development, and their family. I believe that kids are so incredibly smart, and getting along well with just them isn't enough. I know that working with parents and guardians is a crucial step to ensuring quality care. When it comes to pets, I have two cats of my own and have lived with dogs throughout my life. One of my cats is special needs, so I have some experience in learning to understand pets that might not act "normal" to how they normally do. I am a quick learner and do very well with instructions, though I might ask some clarifying questions to ensure everyone's comfort and satisfaction. I have a weird quirk: I love cleaning. I actually like when something gets dirty and I have to work to clean it or figure out a new way to get difficult grime off. I think it's my science-mindedness that keeps me researching the best ways to clean! Fun fact: I am a huge board game nerd! I have been working with children ages 3 months - 12 years old for the past 3 and a half years at the LA Fitness kids club as well as some occasional babysitting.
