Dear Families, I’m Joycelyn, a certified NYS teacher for grades 1–6 and currently teaching 2nd grade. This is my second year teaching in the DOE. In 2023, I earned my Master’s in Teaching and Curriculum in Elementary Education from Columbia Teachers College. I’ve been working with children for over a decade—starting as a babysitter at 13 and later in daycares, preschools, elementary schools, day camps, and after-school programs. Along the way, I’ve gained experience with different teaching approaches, including Montessori and Cooperative Learning, and have also worked with children with special needs such as autism and ADHD. I grew up in Brooklyn and live in Park Slope. Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, cooking, arts and crafts, and reading thriller novels. I love sharing these interests with children, whether it’s through creative projects, problem-solving activities, or simply exploring new ideas together. Hi Prospective Parent(s)! My name is Fiona and I’m a junior at Colby College studying International Relations, Economics, and Chinese. I’m back home in New York City for summer break and would love to help out any families in need of childcare. I have prior experience caring for toddlers and elementary-aged children and have babysat since high school. I really enjoy spending quality time with the children I care for and getting to know their personalities and quirks. Though I may be younger than some other applicants, I take safety very seriously and will make it my number one priority. I have over 10 years of experience as a nanny and babysitter working with children ranging from newborn through elementary age. I also have a background in theater and love bringing that creativity and energy into my work with children. I view my role as a nanny as a teacher and believe children learn best through engagement, play, and exploration.
