Hi there! I'm Julia. I have a wide variety of experience working with kids of all ages, ranging from infants to adolescents. I spent three years as a skills trainer in psychiatric residential and secure inpatient services supporting kids with severe behavioral and emotional symptoms. My roles included teaching coping skills, co-regulation techniques, medication administration, facilitating therapeutic groups and activities, and more. I've worked in early childhood education, emphasizing play-based learning, with kids aged 2-5. I've also supported families with babysitting young children and infants. A little about me- Born and raised in the SF Bay Area, I moved to Oregon for undergrad and have called it home ever since. I value time spent in the outdoors and exploring the many treasurable woodsy spaces surrounding the Portland area. I love to cook nutritious meals and nourish myself with lots of tea. I have a passion for working with the fluid and curious minds of kids and intend to continue my career with this population. I'm currently in a graduate program working towards my Master's in Social work at PSU. I'm in school full time starting the end of September with Thursdays-Sundays available. I have open availability for the month of September.

I have spent the last 8 years working with children, teens, and adults diagnosed with autism and other mental health disorders. I was a CNA in a nursing and rehab facility, and have my bachelor's in psychology focusing on development. I have learned to be creative, patient, and firm in addition to existing personality traits of empathy and compassion. I enjoy video games, board games, tv and movies (especially cartoons/anime), reading, baking and cooking, and being outdoors when it's not too hot out.

I’ve been working with kiddos for a long time, with a specialty for those with behavioral health issues, developmental delays, in/from foster care, adopted, etc. I currently work as a DSP for two agencies in Portland, for kids and adults with special needs. I’ve worked as a live-in nanny, and I am generally the friend asked to babysit/housesit/petsit bc I’m naturally nurturing and patient, and I genuinely get a kick out of learning everyone’s quirks, obsessions, needs, communication styles, etc. I am not a stranger at all to high stress moments, guiding re-regulation, and conflict resolution. First aid and CPR certified

I am comfortable caring for up to three children, ranging from infants to those around 11 years old. I am patient, calm, friendly, and approachable. I enjoy playing outdoor sports, board games, puzzles, and educational games with children. I am also comfortable enforcing household rules. I am CPR and First Aid certified. As a fluent Spanish speaker, I can also incorporate language learning into our activities. I am comfortable with pets, and I look forward to bringing you confidence of childcare to your family.

I am currently an educator at Mt. Hood Learning Collective but I'd like to get back to working with families at home. I have over 8 years experience working in public schools in Salem-Keizer School District and Beaverton School District, as an instructional assistant. I worked with students in small groups, teaching reading, writing, and mathPrior to that, I ran an in-home child care for 12 years.
